Silence.

Nothing but awkward, silence.

"What's wrong Y/N? you've gone quiet.."

The teasing tone in his voice was evident, like he knew something I didn't. I cleared my throat, avoiding the shit eating grin he had on his face.

"Nothing, I just don't know what to say" I faltered, my voice failing to regulate.

"Yeah, I can see that" He mumbled, leaning  in toward my face. we stayed sitting close to each other as he stared into my eyes with a grin. He soon backed away and went back to munching on his popcorn.

"I did come back from a shoot.." I murmured.

"I assumed so" He said in his normal tone. it astonished me how you could hear the smirk in someone's voice.

Silence.

Silence filled the room again.

"So, do you guys have an off day then?" I asked.

He hummed a response.

The only form of noise was probably the mumbling of speech coming from the fort alongside us, I hadn't actually realized Jisung and Felix were in there watching a movie until after I saw the 2 pairs of feet dangle off the bed.

"They're pretty awkward" A voice that sounded like Jisung's mumbled. Hyunjin rolled his eyes and munched loudly on more of the popcorn.

"Those are gross" I commented.

"Yeah, but they're Jisung's" Hyunjin said loudly which in a quick minute had Jisung push through the bed sheets and grab the bag from Hyunjin with a huff before he went back inside the little fort.

I smiled in amusement at the two interjecting each other's words until something came to my mind. "Oh! I brought you coffee!" I said, quickly getting up from the bed and banging my head straight up against the top bunk.

Hyunjin winced before asking if I was okay but I barely heard him as I sped out to the living. I stopped in the kitchen, seeing Jeongin and Chan still there. Jeongin was on his phone and Chan was a faint pink colour, he was wiping tears in his eyes from the burn of his noodles, I assume. I looked at the counter where I had previously left his americano but much to my dismay, it had disappeared.

"So Y/N, where's my coffee?" Hyunjin asked behind me, I felt his arm swing over my shoulders.

"I drank it." Chan deadpanned as he looked at us with a rather serious face.

"I told him not to!" Jeongin yelled. "I tried to stop him Y/N!"

"It hurt! my mouth hurt!"

I pouted a little but understood Chan's point. "It's okay Chan, you needed it" I reassured with a smile.

"Welp, I guess that's that." Hyunjin sighed. "Come on Y/N, let's go" I faced Hyunjin who began walking over to the front door, my feet unconsciously following.

"Where are we going?" I asked, putting on my shoes without a second thought.

"You owe me coffee." Hyunjin stated.

There was luckily a brewery only a couple minutes away from their dorm so we walked, it felt strange to not be worried about disguises or being hidden as we walked down the street. "Aren't you worried we'll be seen?" I questioned.

"Your whole job is to be seen, what difference does it make in public or on the street?" Hyunjin coaxed in response.

When he said it like that, It did make the idea of hiding a little unreasonable, I simply turned my head and faced the street, his perspective replaying in my head.

"As long as it isn't a huge crowd of paparazzi, I think we'll be okay" Hyunjin said, I heard him take in a deep breath of air before he looked over at me. "Do you want a piggyback ride?"

My heard turned in a shocked and confused state.

~

"You're gonna drop me!" I yelled as I held on for dear life.

"I won't!"

Hyunjin was running down the street with me on his back. I've done concerts with fire on stage and yet never have I ever felt this unsafe.

"Liar! You will!"

"Don't jinx it Y/N!"

eventually, we made it to the coffee shop where I reluctantly paid for our drinks. we walked out of the the shop hand in hand this time as he took to me what he called a "hidden gem".

~

We walked up a hill, finally making it to the top. with a pant, I collapsed onto the grassy ground, looking over the cliff. From where we were, it was a beautiful sight of an entire neighborhood. It wasn't anything like the busy city, it was quiet and suburban. I smiled and took a sip of my drink as Hyunjin sat down next to me.

"It's quite the sight" I complimented, turning to face him. A faint smile was plastered on his face as he looked down at the scenery.

"It's my secret place. I've never brought anyone here except you." Hyunjin mentioned as he looked at me with that same smile.

I reciprocated the look on his face. "It'll be our little secret" I whispered closely to him before giggling. "So, why do you like it so much?"

Hyunjin sighed before shuffling around to sit more comfortably, taking a sip from his coffee. "In my head, this is what life looks like." He started off. "Everyone may be individually living but they aren't living alone." He then turned to me. "Do you get what I mean?"

I thought for a minute and smiled before nodding. "Yeah, I think I do."

He was right. I definitely understood what he was trying to say. Growing up in the city taught me that, although there were so many people passing by you, it was really only yourself in the world. I had grown used to being on my own, with the select few I kept around of course. Although, sitting down and watching a random town from above made me feel.. lonely.

I watched from above the way everyone was doing their own thing. An elderly woman was putting up laundry in her backyard while a younger woman was going on a run down the street. However, it was more than that. The woman jogging stopped and waved to the elderly woman before stopping for conversation. on the opposite side of town I watched as a cat snuck onto a playground and a bunch of excited kids ran toward it, their parents sat together on benches and conversed. It looked like a bunch of moms were giving tips to a father. They weren't truly alone.

"I definitely get it.." I said in a quiet voice, there was a strange feeling in my chest as I looked at Hyunjin but I couldn't quite differentiate it. He turned to me with a gentle look in his eyes.

"Y/N, you okay?"

And with the sweet sound of his voice, it hit me.

I don't want to be alone anymore.
