In honor of the fall season, I present this drabble! It's really short but I haven't had time to do anything else...

"Come ooonnnn! All the good ones will be gone!"
Donnie, the less enthusiastic one was tugged behind you as you marched on high spirited and determined.
The past few years, you've had trouble finding the perfect pumpkin. Not this year. You made sure to be early this time, and the leaves were barely changing colors when you hauled Donnie out here.
He begrudgingly agreed to the outing, didn't quite appreciate getting pulled out of bed so early on a weekend.
Nonetheless, your smile was definitely worth it.
So, armed with warm drinks and thick scarves, you both went out in the early morning light to the nearest patch.
Paying the fee, you couldn't stop bouncing from anticipation, you were early you were sure, but there was already a line ahead of you for the pumpkins.
Your more lax partner on the other hand just stood there sipping quietly as you waited your turn.
Finally reaching the front of the line you set off into the field of orange and green, scrounging around for that satisfying round shape, Donnie in tow.
Oh how unlucky you truly were, for there was not one to your liking. Either they were to squat or too long, too thick or too small. Even the close ones failed to make the standard as they had scarring on the sides.
After 20 minutes of looking, you were about to admit defeat. Hanging your head you turned to your partner, readying yourself to tell them you wanted to leave.
Then, you saw his gaze fixed on something 20 feet away. Curiously following his gaze, you couldn't quite pinpoint what he was looking at.
He suddenly grabbed your cold hand in his warm one.
Started you yelped a bit, glancing up at him.
The small grin on his face was all you saw before being tugged among the plants to a specific set of leaves. Your partner let go of your hand opting to squat down and brush away some leaves.
You were about to protest, when sitting there, was the one thing you wanted. A beautifully round, perfectly orange, absolute size of a pumpkin.
Your jaw hung in the morning breeze as your partner snorted at your astonishment.
Snapping it shut, you sent a small look their way, seeing them gesture to the pumpkin with a large smile on their face, you picked it up, inspecting it thoroughly.
Your disbelief only grew when you saw the lack of scarring. Allowing a small smile, you looked at Donnie. The gratefulness was ever present on your face as you smiled and gave him a side hug as a thank you.
You had wanted to hug them fully, but there was something now cradled to your chest. Your partner knew how important this season was to you and you had just the worst luck when it came to.
So, ever vigilant, he found just the thing that they were looking for. And the happiness on your face, well, he wouldn't give that up for the world.
