18+ readers only please!Every day since Christmas was spent with Sammy. He did take you ice skating. And you did fall on your ass but he was quick to help you up. He had tried to steal back his cheetah print sweater but you wouldn't let him. Things were good with Jake and Josh. The three of you had been staying busy trying to plan the proposal.
Every detail was pretty much covered. You were surprised that things with Jake had been so easy. You thought maybe you'd be more heartbroken but you were excited for Jake and Becca.
It was 11:48pm and everyone was up on the roof. Music was playing and even though it wasn't midnight yet, there were still fireworks going off in the distance.
"Do you have a New Year's resolution?" Sammy asked you.
"To spend as much time with you as possible."
"Is that so?"
He pulled you in for a hug. You ran your hands up and down his back as he gently kissed your neck.
"Sorry. PDA," he mumbled.
You pushed up on your tippy toes, pulling him in until he was kissing you. He set his hands on your hips, softly squeezing the meat there.
"I thought you didn't like PDA," Sam laughed.
"I just said that because I was afraid of what Jake would think."
"Oh... I see."
"It doesn't bother me. You can kiss me wherever you want."
"Even if Jake sees?"
"Yes. I don't care about that anymore either."
"Good to know."
You pressed a kiss to Sam's cheek and then made your way over to Josh, who was now standing alone, watching Jake and Becca.
"Where's Luke?" you asked him.
"He's bringing out some fireworks."
"Do you think she's gonna say yes?"
"I think so. Look at her."
Becca was sitting on Jake's lap, looking up at the fireworks. Jake was watching her, his eyes focused on the corner of her mouth. She turned to him and he smiled before capturing her lips in a soft kiss.
"How do you think tonight's gonna go for us?" Josh asked you.
"Well, hopefully it's not as shitty as it was last year. That pity kiss from Sam was brutal."
"Yeah, last year was pretty shitty. You know you're gonna have to kiss him again this year."
"Yeah. He's not so bad."
"So things are good, then?"
"Things are great."
"I'm happy for you. I mean it."
"Thanks, Josh."
He wrapped his arm over your back and drew you in close to him. Lucas joined the two of you and set up some fireworks to set off at midnight. You looked around for Sammy but couldn't find him anywhere in the crowd of people. You assumed he probably had gone to the bathroom so you tried not to worry about it.
A few more minutes had passed and the countdown had begun. You were panicking at this point, not sure if you should watch Jake make the proposal or if you should go off looking for Sam. You'd remembered in one of your little romcom movies where the girl thought she would be alone but at the last second her love interest popped out of nowhere and gave her the New Years kiss. You smiled, convincing yourself that's what Sam was going to do.
