Jennie walked into her old room, leaving the door wide open as she looked around. Everything still looked the same except for a few missing things that she took with her on the day she left. She was home, but she didn't feel like she was. Shaking her head, she closed her eyes and turned around to leave. Her walk was stopped by her father who showed himself just outside of her door.
She stopped and watched him, totally unamused. When Riley had returned to the lounge, all she had said was, "Okay Mr Smith, you may have your daughter." She had left immediately after saying those words, leaving the mansion completely as she refused to spare Jennie a glance.
Jennie felt her heart break. She didn't want to be away from Riley, ever. But nonetheless, she had followed a few maids to hers and Riley's room to pack.
Once she was sure that all her things were packed even though she really wanted to forget something to have an excuse for coming back, she left the house and was driven away from her current home and back to her old home. She didn't say anything when they got to the house and was grateful that Murrieta and the boys had gone out grocery shopping. The less human interaction, the better for her.
But now she was standing face to face with her father, a man she loved, but definitely didn't want to see at the moment. Her father looked nervous, now in new looking casual clothes. Jennie nonchalantly folded her arms and sighed.
"Dad," she greeted him, her face showing less enthusiasm than she would whenever her eyes landed on Riley. Thinking about the older woman took her back to their little moment in the car, a moment that she just couldn't get out of her mind. Her dad spoke, rambling about something that Jennie didn't hear because she had spaced out, thinking about the feel of Riley's naughty hand on her thigh and how good she had felt when the older woman kissed her. She wondered how it would feel... Or taste like, to actually kiss the older woman's lips. Her daydreaming, much to her disappointment, was interrupted by her father worriedly snapping his fingers infront of her face.
"Huh? Sorry, did you say something?" She asked, shaking her head and closing her eyes for a second as she composed herself. Her father eyed her, his face showing worry and concern.
"I uh- I was just checking up on you. Wanted to see how you are settling back in," he said, a nervous smile forming on his face. Jennie looked at him for a second, carefully thinking over her options in terms of responses. Her attention landed on her father's new clothes and she gave him a sarcastic smile.
"New clothes? So the Brown's money and company helped afterall, huh?" She said, sarcasm thick on her every word. Joshua's eyes widened, shocked and speechless.
"Uh-" Joshua attempted to speak, but no words left his mouth, so Jennie spoke again.
"Tell me, dad," Jennie spoke, venom dripping from her every word.
"Did you think of asking me how I feel about all this- coming back here? You apologised for pushing me into marriage without my consent then go right ahead to take me away from my fiancee without my concern! Now I'm not even sure why you actually apologised in the first place when you're doing the same thing again!"
Jennie's tone was that of anger and annoyance. Her father, now realising his mistake, was very much still unsure of what to say.
"I thought-" he attempted to speak again but was once more interrupted by a now fuming Jennie who clearly had a lot more to say to her father after years of silence. Joshua, deciding that it would be wise to allow her daughter to vent out all her anger, stayed silent and allowed her to speak.
"That's the problem, dad! You thought. You! What about me, huh? What about what I think? What about what I want?" Jennie broke down, all her once hidden emotions coming up to the surface. Tears streamed down her face as she looked at her father in anger. Just as she was about to say more, her phone rang from her bed, interrupting her. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion as she turned around and walked to her bed. Her eyes widened when she saw the caller ID.
