Jennie was enjoying her birthday. So far, she had shared a delicious breakfast with Riley, made by the latter. After both women were done getting ready, both settled into casual clothes.
Jennie wore a short baby blue skirt with a matching short sleeved crop top and leisure color outdoor lace up flats. The look was completed by silver coloured necklaces, a silver strapped watch and matching anklets on both ankles. She brushed her long hair and let it fall elegantly on her back, touching up her eyelashes to make her eyes pop a little to make them more noticeable.
Riley, on the other hand, went with a black colour. She had on black cargo pants, a black oversized drop shoulder baggy t-shirt with matching sneakers. Her hair, freshly cut to only reach the nape of her neck, was left to fall back with no restraints, hidden under a black cap. Today, for a change, she chose to fix her face up, brushing her eyebrows in a smooth and neat manner. She looked at herself, deciding at once that she needs chains and necklaces, especially since she never recovered and will probably never recover the one she left at Layla's place. Applying a lip balm on her lips, she scanned her drawer of watches and accessories. Picking up a black watch along with four beaded wristbands, she put them on, on her wrists.
Once both women were done prepping up, they met outside were Riley's car was ready and waiting.
They spent the whole car ride conversing about everything and anything. Jennie was glad that Riley trusted her enough to confide in her in regards to her mother. The matter had been something Jennie was curious about but never really stopped for long to critically think about it. It now made sense to her why her fiancee disliked her father and never spoke about her mother. She now also understands why Riley had been emotionally affected by her father- Joshua's bullying. She didn't like being compared with her father because he had deprived her of her mother's presence.
Still on the fathers' issue, Jennie wondered how her family was doing. However, she didn't have to think for too long as the car finally stopped at a parking of a huge busy mall. Thanks to Riley, the two women could venture into one shop after the other without the annoyance of intruding guards.
They entered many clothing stores where Jennie put on a fashion show for her rather too amused fiancee who seemed to love every clothing worn by the younger woman. Riley also got herself a few new clothes as well as watches, wristbands, necklaces and chains. She also added to her many lists of caps and brim hats. It didn't take long before the car's booth was filled with bags and bags of clothes and accessories.
While they were shopping around, Jennie had gotten a call from her father, asking her to come over, but the young woman wanted to enjoy her birthday alone with Riley without having anyone else upset or anger any of them. So, after a second's thought, she turned down the offer, grateful that Riley had wandered off to the male section of the store. They had fun, that much was evident on how they both couldn't stop their laughing and the smiles that kept themselves on their faces.
Next, Riley took them to a shooting gallery and Jennie admitted that she had not expected such a surprise. But considering who Riley is, it wasn't really out of character. Weirdly, Jennie enjoyed every second she spent there. Riley took her to over every rule and step, helping in teaching her a few basic but important things about the gun they were using.
Once she started the main part of the shooting, Riley helped in teaching her how to hold the gun and how she should stand. Jennie blushed at their closeness and almost lost her concentration at the feel of Riley's torso lightly pressed on her back, her hands over her own, and the enticing smell of her musky cologne filling her nostrils in a terribly distracting way.
Riley was still holding her when Jennie fired the first shot and if not for the older woman's balance, both of them would have fallen over and landed on their backs, Jennie landing on top of Riley. But luckily for them, Riley kept Jennie in place. Although Jennie had her ears covered, she still felt the impact of the bullet on her body. She felt alive, liberated even. She even let out heartily giggles before turning around to attack Riley with a hug. The older woman embraced her with same energy, grinning from ear to ear like a little kid.
