It had been three months since Joey and Veronica broke up and they'd managed to deal with it much better than Ross and Rachel had. It took them a while but they were in a place where they could almost hang out like they did before they'd started dating.

So Monica thought that it was the perfect time to finally bring up her decision to have Chandler move in. She'd thought that Veronica was relatively okay enough to bring up the news but she'd been very wrong.

And that was how Veronica ended up crying on the couch at Central Perk. She took a sip of her chai latte only to grimace, spit it back into the cup, and let out another cry. They'd given her someone else's cappuccino.

Joey walked into Central Perk and his eyes widened when he saw her, rushing over to her. "What's wrong?!" He asked frantically as he sat down next to her.

"Monica and Chandler are moving in together and I have to move out and everything is changing," She wailed as she threw herself into him, "And my chai latte has coffee in it because it's not a chai latte and they ran out of the cookies I like!"

Joey froze, not knowing what to do. He knew he missed Veronica but having her snuggled into his chest again just reminded him exactly how much he missed her.

He slowly wrapped his arms around her and gave her a comforting squeeze as he kissed the top of her head. "Oh my—Come here! It's okay. Everything's gonna be okay," He promised.

He saw a waiter bringing over a cookie to the table behind them, Veronica's favorite cookie. He grabbed it off the plate and waved off the waiter. "Here," He smiled softly as Veronica slowly moved her head off his chest.

Her eyes lit up when she saw him holding out the cookie to her. "Thank you."

Joey smiled at her as he pushed her hair out of her face gently while she took a bite. "Of course."

"Veronica, there's a call for you," Gunther called from the register.

"Who was it?" Joey asked when she came back.

"Ugh, my boss again!" She huffed, "You take one six-hour break and the whole place falls apart."

"...I thought the breakup was mutual," Phoebe frowned.

"Oh, it was," Joey nodded," But only for Veronica."

They'd had a long talk about the breakup that really cleared the air. Well, actually it only made Veronica feel better because Joey actually thought they were going to get back together when she asked him to talk. But he didn't want to make her feel bad so instead he agreed that their breakup was mutual.

So while Veronica thought they were both past the breakup, Joey was definitely not.

"Of course not, because you're in love with her," Phoebe accused him.
