On friday afternoon Daisy had tickets for The Eras Tour Film, she had bought two tickets, one for her and the other one was originally for Justin. But given the circumstances, Rebeccah decided to go with her instead.
Despite her recent breakup, Daisy was determined to have a good time. She put on an "I love NY" t-shirt, a plaid skirt with boots, and she brought the bracelets she exchanged when she went to the tour to the cinema with her.
The lights dimmed, and the crowd erupted in cheers as the concert footage began. Daisy couldn't contain her excitement as Taylor started singing Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince. Everyone was swept away by the music, the energy of the crowd, and the visual spectacle on the big screen. Everyone in the cinema was singing and dancing around to the songs the whole time.
It went by so fast they didn't realize it was almost over as karma, the last song was playing through the speakers.
As good as the experience was, after she went home Daisy couldn't help but to spend the day and following weekend in bed watching seasons and seasons of Grey's Anatomy. Trying to distract herself from the crushing feeling that pressed against her chest. She had not just lost her boyfriend of more than three years but his childhood best friend, his family was more of a family than her own.
Daisy knew she had made the right decision breaking up with him but it still hurt like hell and sometimes she forgot why she did it.
The following week she went to class and straight back home to her bed, wrapped up in her sheets and crying intermittently. The echoes of their last conversation still haunted her every thought.
She hugged herself tightly, trying to hold together the pieces of a heart shattered into fragments. The soft sound of a song that used to be "theirs" played in the background, each note a painful reminder of the love that had slipped through her fingers.
On Friday, Rebeccah and April knocked on her apartment door.
Daisy frowned as she heard the door, feeling obligated to get up and answer it.
- Hey - she said surprised to see her friends there.
They barged into the room armed with an arsenal of enthusiasm and a mission to lift Daisy's spirits. April and Rebeccah raised their eyebrows looking around the room, the floor covered in clothes and tissues all over her bed.
- We get it - Rebecca said - It's a hard breakup, but you can't stay like this forever - she explained - We are going out tonight, you too.
- I really don't feel like it... - Daisy tried to get out of her friend's plans.
- No, you are coming - April said walking across the apartment into her bedroom - Now let's pick your outfit. We're turning this night around!
It took a few more minutes to convince her but in the end she agreed. It was time to get out of the breakup hole she had dug for herself.
Daisy managed a small smile in return, appreciating the genuine concern in their eyes. As Rebeccah continued her raid on the closet, she finally pulled out a short leather dress that made her eyes light up.
- This is it! You'll look amazing in this, Daisy. Trust me.
Meanwhile April tackled the playlist, creating a lineup of upbeat songs that had no choice but to induce a dance party, including most of 1989 songs.
After a whole week of listening to Red (Taylor's Version) break up songs it was refreshing to listen to a different tune.
An hour later they were all ready, dresses and make-up on point.
