Days in the hospital passed in a blur of medical routines, pain management, and the occasional visit from friends. Daisy's parents called a few times, they told her that they'd hired the best physical therapist they could find so she could walk as soon as possible.
- Okay... Thank you! - she managed to answer, confused that that was the only thing they had to say - I guess I'll see you on Christmas.
And finally a week and a few days later the doctors discharged her. Caleb arrived at the hospital early to take her to her apartment. When the doctor confirmed her readiness to leave, Caleb helped her into a wheelchair, guiding it through the corridors of the hospital and into the parking lot to his car.
- Finally - Daisy said smiling as she settled into the seat - You know I love Grey's Anatomy but I do not like being in the hospital.
- Yea I don't like hospitals either - he replied sincerely, driving out of the parking lot.
When they arrived at her apartment Caleb assisted her getting settled, ensuring she had everything she needed within reach, and moved some furniture so her wheelchair could move around the next month.
- Let me know if you need anything, okay? - Caleb offered
- I will, and you didn't have to do any of this so thank you - Daisy nodded appreciatively - Now go, I know you are missing class.
- Let me just make you lunch and I'll leave.
- Don't worry about it, I'll do it myself - Daisy insisted, moving to the kitchen.
Caleb laughed and raised his eyebrows
- C'mon you can't even reach the microwave.
That evening, Rebekah, April, and Tara arrived at Daisy's apartment, ready for a much-needed girls' night. April, always the planner, brought a basket of snacks, including popcorn, holiday-themed chocolates and a list of Christmas movies. To celebrate that she was out of the hospital and that they were finally on Christmas break.
- How are you? You look good! - Rebekah exclaimed, giving her a big hug.
- Better, thank you - Daisy answered, letting them into her apartment and transferring to the couch.
The girls wasted no time, jumping onto the sofa after her.
- Okay, what's first in our movie marathon? - April asked.
- How about 'Love Actually'? I love it, Oh or Home alone! - Rebekah suggested taking April's list
- Let's watch both - Daisy laughed putting Netflix on.
The others agreed and as the movie played, the girls laughed at the characters and situations, glad to be all together and happy again.
- I wish someone would do that for me, learn a language for me, like that's so cute! - Rebekah wished, her eyes lighting up - I'm so jealous of the three of you! I can't believe I have double the options and I'm still single, life is so unfair...
Her friends laughed and gave her a pat in the back.
- Well if only you didn't have commitment issues - Daisy couldn't help but say with a playful smile on her face.
- Hey, don't call me out like that - Rebekah rolled her eyes but laughed along and changed the topic - So tell us, how is that boyfriend of yours treating you? And how did that happen in the first place?
Daisy looked away to avoid her friends seeing her blush while they waited expectant for her to respond.
- I don't know, we didn't click at first but then we got to know each other better - Daisy replied with a little smile playing on her lips - And he has been so good since the accident, like extra good.
