WEEKS LATER
I feel as if a boulder has rolled off my shoulders. Black Licorice has been cured and Raspberry is no longer my girlfriend. I'd say it calls for a celebration, but not today. I should have enjoyed the luxury of being away from my doctor duties, because now that I've returned, I am up to my neck in appointments. I've got patients scattered around my clinic and I'm racing back and forth, treating them as best as I can. I give an ice pack to one patient, I give a hot water bottle to another, I wrap a bandage around a patient's arm and toss a lollipop into another's mouth. As I'm trickshotting lollipops into patients' mouths, I'm in a group call with my friends. It turns out, they're as busy as me.
Orange: I'm tellin' ya, Lemon, I'm swamped!
Lemon: YOU'RE swamped? I'm underwater in manicure suds and facial cream! This has been the busiest summer ever!
Orange: Not... as busy... as mine! The whole summer, I haven't been on my feet a minute!
Oh, that's right. So much time has passed between the last episode and this one, I forgot it's nearing the end of summer. That would explain all the chaos, but it makes me realize how long I've been staying here. If my brain serves me well, I've been in Berry Bitty City for about... a year and a half. This also marks the halfway point of Season Two. After this, there's only two more seasons until this show comes to an end.
And then...
And then what? What'll happen to my friends? What'll happen to me?
Plum: [over the phone] Coconut, did you fall asleep?
I jolt and realize I've zoned out. It's concluded by the amount of patients staring at me.
Me: [to my phone] Wh-what did you say?
Plum: [over the phone] I said, it's been forever since I had a vacation.
Me: You can have the vacation, Plum. After the Berry Big City incident, I decided I'm never leaving here again.
Orange: [over the phone] Trust me, Coconut, you're making the right choice. There's no place like home, as I always say.
Me: Trust me, Orange, I know.
I hang up and focus my attention to my remaining patients.
It's going to be a long morning.

It's half past noon as I leave my clinic, after that morning rush, and I come across Blueberry entering Raspberry's boutique. My face beams with excitement because I know where this is going. Blueberry thinks we're going on a vacation to an island paradise called...
Say it with me now...
"Beyond the Berry Breeze."

I put on a casual face and enter the boutique, finding Blueberry near the mirror and Raspberry carrying some suits. As Raspberry turns to me, I can't help but feel a little awkward, because... you know...
But it's okay, because it seems she feels the same way.
Raspberry: Oh, uh... H-hey, Dom.
Me: Raspberry, hey.
Raspberry: Fancy seeing you here.
I chuckle.
Me: I... see what you did there. You know... Fancy... Fashion...
Raspberry giggles in such an uncomfortable way.
Raspberry: That's... not what I was going for at all...
