No.8: The Farm
Location: The Montagu Forest

It was pitch dark by the time Teagan awoke. At first she could not make out anything in the dark and almost thought she had gone blind but soon she could make out the silhouette of trees and that of a deer and a frail looking man.

"You're awake," it was the boy she had rescued.

"Huh huh? How long have I been out?" She asked groggily.

"I don't know? Hours? I only woke up myself hours ago," it was strange to hear his voice with little to almost no trace of weakness; he had a sweet strong voice.

"I see, what do we do now?" She asked sitting up.

"What else can we do but keep running? Do you think they would have discovered our escape now?" He asked, she could not see his face but she could tell that his eyebrow was furrowed in worry.

"They left us to die, I don't think they would have noticed," she tried to be assuring but she was just as scared. If they had not escaped, she too would have been gradually turning into a corpse.

"It's best to play it safe then, so we keep running," he said so faintly that she could barely hear him.

"Where do you think this forest leads to?" Teagan asked.

"I cannot hear anything save the forest, it's as if the forest masks out everything outside of it," the boy replied, she wanted to tell him that he had a beautiful voice but now wass not a good time.

"Like the forest exists on its own, as if it were a planet all by itself," she said.

"It has life of its own, I think there may be other beings here you know,"

"Like aliens? From another planet?'' Teagan asked half scared.

"Not from another planet, beings of this very place unaware of folks like us,"

"Why? Do you hear anything?"

"I can hear a chant but I'm not so sure, I hear many things,"

"If they exist, do you think they'll harm us?"

"They might keep us prisoners, we don't belong here,"

"Have we run away to run into a more dangerous place?"

"I don't know, this place feels warm like a mother's blanket. See it is night and we do not feel cold,"

"And you sound well, was it the grape that gave you strength?"

"That was you? Feeding me grapes?"

"What did you think?"

"That it was an angel, I still think you're an angel," she could not see his face but she could feel his smile.

"I'm no angel," was her reply.

"You come from nowhere and rescue me from a helpless situation, if you're no angel I wonder what you are," she could feel his intense stare even in the dark.

"I'm just, I did not come from nowhere. I have a family, I have friends, and I will do anything to be home right now," Teagan almost sobbed.

"Better here than in that rotten prison, huh?'' she knew he said that to comfort her but she could not help herself and broke into tears.

Location: Mildred

The knock on the door could only be from one person; Trinidad. He was back, the love of her life was back home. Desdemona wondered within her if she would recognise this man when she opened the door. Would he have changed from the trusting husband as he once knew to a man who had lied to her all the time they had been together? She tried to shrug off the pessimistic thoughts; Trinidad must have had his reasons.
