No 4: The Bank.Location: The Metropolis
Teagan moved the skeleton away from the hole that guaranteed their freedom; there were some worms and dirt at the mouth but that was her least concern. She dug them away; the hole was big enough to accommodate her small frame. She looked at her new friend, it was perfect for them.
"Come on, let's get out of here," she whispered to the lanky boy. He grunted in response but did not move. She went to his aid immediately, helping him stand up and then leading him towards the hole. She shoved him downwards, waited awhile then went down herself. The tunnel seemed to go on forever but finally, she heard something drop into the water, it was the boy.
She entered the water just a few seconds afterwards.
It was pitch dark and she could not make out anything in the dark. If only her abilities extended to her sight. She used her sense of smell to locate the boy, she was just on time, any longer and he would have drowned to his death. She used all her might to hold onto him and used her almost non-existent swimming skills to make for dry land. When they had touched grass she sighed in relief.
"Hey, we made it," Teagan let her smile stretch to its fullest extent. She might have smiled even more, even given a little victory dance if she knew that in Trinidad's entire kidnapping history, she was the first to escape his hold.
Location: Instanbul
Trinidad had business with the bank manager today. Of all the places he visited, the bank was the most populated with demons. They were everywhere: as cashiers, security, as accountants; as cleaners, as about any job they could wiggle their way into. It seemed that there was something about money that attracted them like flies to spoil food. Trinidad had picked this particular bank because it had the least amount of demons. At least all of their managers were humans. His business in the bank today however was for financial reasons and not reasons associated with his trafficking business. In a way, they were related because he had come to deposit the proceeds of the past days in the bank. His total proceeds were about twenty million durias of which half will go to charity work in some remote country in the African continent. He did such things to ease his rotten conscience that he was not all bad. The rest of the money went into a fixed deposit account titled children's fees that will ensure his boys attend the best colleges upon finishing high school and his Adara doing whatever may please her heart.
"Trinidad," the small man behind the glass desk nodded in his direction, he was the head manager of the bank. His name was Solomon, a good man if not a little greedy.
"Solomon," Trinidad shook hands with him, he liked this man.
"Watch the Lakers game last night? Our boys did us proud," Solomon said as he gestured for Trinidad to take a sit.
"Yes, yes, good game," Trinidad smiled as he took his seat.
"So how much?"
"Twenty mil,"
"Bad week huh?"
"You bet"
Solomon did not know what Trinidad did for a living and he did not care, it was simply none of his business. However, he had an idea when Trinidad showed up at his doorstep with his sixteen-year-old daughter and a strong warning never to allow his daughter to go clubbing past nine p.m. He had not asked questions but they had developed a keen sense of loyalty towards each other.
"I'm a bit thirsty, got good coffee?" Trinidad asked. It was one of the reasons he loved Solomon, a man who knew good coffee had good taste.
"Got the beans imported from Santa Columbia, it's as good as fine wine," Solomon said good-naturedly as he buzzed for his secretary. It was a skinny tall man who came into the office minutes later with a tray which contained two cups.
