Getting home and being able to go straight to Dahliah's school to see her was the comfort I needed from landing. I was glad to be back because I missed my daughter, but also missed the rushing feeling of Avalon.

"She won't move on," Nick broke the silence of the car ride back to the house.

I had spent the afternoon with Dahliah and Avalon, so I could see my daughter, so I could see her. I needed to see her, I could never hate her for leaving, because I would too, if I was with someone who did what I did. I regret it every day for doing what I did to her, for losing her.

"What do you mean?"

"She isn't allowing herself move on, she looks at you the same way she did six years ago," Nick sighed, "DON'T let that give you an ego though."

"She wouldn't even look at me today," I replied.

"She won't let herself get hurt again," I was pulling into the driveway and just sat.

"I won't this time," I replied.

"You said that last time," Nick pursed his lips and got out of the car.

I sat there for a minute, and pulled my phone out. I opened Instagram and saw that Avalon posted a photo of Dahliah from ice cream earlier. I then smiled to myself, she was a perfect combination of Ava and I, she had my eyes but Ava's natural brown hair.  put my phone back in my pocket and went inside right to my room.

"I'm bored," Chris came in and laid right next to me.

"I don't care," I replied.

"You don't need to be all emo now because you know Ava's here but doesn't want to see you," He huffed.

"I'm not," I rolled my eyes.

"Yes you are, go see her, i doubt she'd turn you away," He suggested.

"Dahliah is asleep, I don't want to wake her."

"Matt-"

"Fine, I'll go."

I grabbed my keys and went down to the van, where Nick was standing.

"What're you doing?" I asked, walking over to the driver's side.

"Could be asking you the same thing," He stared as I walked.

"Going for a drive," I lied.

"Let me come," He didn't believe a word that came out of my mouth.

"No."

"Why."

"Because."

He rolled his eyes and let out a huge dramatic sigh, then went back into the house. I sped out of the driveway, then drove to Ava's house. Dahliah was right, it was huge. Like four stories, modern house, type huge. I parked my car on the side of the road and walked up to the house, knocking on the door.

"Hello?" I heard Ava's voice coming from somewhere.

"HELLO?" I accidentally yelled.

I heard a small laugh, her laugh, but it stopped abruptly, "Matt what're you doing here."

"I want to talk."

"No."

"Please Avalon," I practically begged.

Silence, nothing but silence. I sighed to myself then turned on my heel when I heard the door crack open.

"Come in," She opened the door wider.

I gave her a smile and walked into the house, observing the foyer.

"Dahliah's asleep," She spoke.

"I figured."
