I had just dropped off Dahliah at pre-school and was heading into the salon because I had to do payroll today, and wanted to get it done early. Live the past few years had been different, in many ways, I had strayed away from relationships, and worked on building a business, a very successful one. I had an empire basically, I was making more money juggling four different things, a brand, a company, YouTube, and other social media, and having the time of my life. Dahliah had just turned four years old a few months ago, and it was insane to me how much time had flown by.

"Morning, Avalon!" One of my employees, Claire, greeted me when I walked through the door.

"Good morning, Claire, you're in early," I smiled at her.

"Wanted to bring in some of my restock and do inventory," She gave me a bright smile.

"Alright well, after I drop my stuff up I'm going to run across the street to Starbucks, would you like anything?" I walked into the back hearing her follow after me.

"Uhm, an iced mocha latte, please?"

"You got it," I grinned and set my bag down.

I went across the street and ordered an iced chai latte and an iced mocha latte, then went back over to the salon.

"You know, he called again," Claire spoke when I handed her the coffee.

"Who?"

"You know who," She sighed.

"I don't think I do," I lied.

"Your daughter's father, he gets home soon, he wants to see her," She paused, "And you."

I froze, "He can see Dahliah whenever he wants, he knows that, he's just been on tour."

"What about you?" She asked.

"What about me?"

"Are you going to say a minimum of two words again, or are you actually going to talk to him?"

"I don't know, we'll see."

I went into my office and started payroll when Claire walks in on the phone.

"He wants to pick her up from school," She whispered.

"Tell him that's fine," I replied.

"You do it," She put the phone in my face, so I covered the mic.

"No," I whisper yelled.

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes."

"FINE." I grabbed the phone and she gave me a victorious smile.

"You there Claire?" I heard his voice, for the first time in months.

"This um. It's me."

"Oh, Ava- hi- hi um how are you?"

"Fine, so you want to pick up Liah from school?" I asked.

"If that's alright," He sighed.

"Yep." I pursed my lips.

"Ava," He sighed again.

"What."

"Come with me."

"No."

"Why, I haven't seen you in months, since I picked up Dahliah to leave for Christmas, please."

"Why do you want to see me," I started doing work again on the phone.
