We were going to have a game night, like the good old days. I was happy things were going back to normal, things were falling right back into place, almost perfectly. Matthew had been so patient with me, which I really appreciated. Madi and Sab came walking up the stairs and I was in the living room alone.
"Oh my god," Madi's jaw dropped and I grinned, "OH MY GOD!"
"OH MY GOD!" Sab squealed.
I ran over and hugged them and we shared a huge group hug.
"Nick didn't tel-" I started.
"NO! HE DIDN'T!" Sab grinned, "Wait, does this mean-"
"No, no, not yet at least," I replied.
"But it's a possibility?" Madi asked.
I shook my head yes, and grinned, "A very high possibility."
"OH MY GOD!" They but hugged me tightly again.
"Clearly Sab and Madi are here," Chris laughed.
"What game first?" Madi asked.
"Charades, in teams, Matt and Ava, Sab and Nick and Madi and I," Chris sat on the couch.
"We're gonna kick your ass," I laughed.
Rounds of charades went by and we as promised, kicked ass. I could see the anger fuming in Nick's eyes every time we would get a point and it was really funny.
"ALRIGHT MATT AND AVA WIN," He yelled finally.
"TOLD YOU!" Matt and I high fived with both hands.
We chose to play Monopoly next, hopefully getting through the game in less than a days time. After two hours I had acquired all of the railroads, park place, and boardwalk.
"AVA IF YOU TAKE ANYMORE OF MY MONEY I WILL SHOOT YOU!" Chris yelled laughing.
I cracked up right as Chris landed on one of my railroads, causing me to laugh even harder. I had laughing so hard that I fell out of the chair, causing Matt to laugh really hard as well. The entire group was laughing loudly. Hours later we finally finished, Sab winning, Matt coming in second, and me in third.
"I'm trying to figure out, how did I beat miss all railroads over there," Sab laughed.
"I stopped paying attention half way through the game," I replied with a laugh, getting a root beer out of the fridge.
I went and sat on the couch, Matt coming and laying his head in my lap, causing my heart to race like a middle school girl seeing her crush in the hallway.
"Don't be nervous," He whispered.
My heart skipped, I shouldn't have found that hot, but I did. His whisper was something else, I couldn't even explain it. Sab and Madi had left a little bit after we wrapped up the game because it was super late, and I knew I should go home but I couldn't.
"Hey Ava, are you going to stay here tonight? Are you going home?" Nick yawned.
"Uh," I glanced at Matt, who was now in the kitchen doing dishes, "I uh, I-"
I knew Matt couldn't hear me but his eyes met with mine and he smiled at me. That smile I had always loved.
"I'm just gonna stay," I smiled.
I got up and walked into the kitchen, appearing by Matt's side.
"Need help?" I asked.
"I'm actually all done," He turned to me and smiled.
"Good," I grabbed his face and kissed him.
"HELLO?" Nick yelled, causing me to laugh making the kiss break.
"No," He pulled me right back in.
"You're okay if I stay tonight right?" I asked.
"Yeah, yeah of course," He smiled at me, his hands resting on my waist.
"What the hell just happened?" Nick looked at us in shock.
"We're just friends, that make out every once and a while," I replied.
"Bullshit-" Nick laughed.
Matt and I just shrugged and I slid to his room in my socks.
"OH SHIT!" I yelled almost running into the wall, causing Matt and Nick to laugh.
I walked into Matt's room and sat at his desk.
"What are you doing?" He laughed.
"Can I play Fortnite?"
"You wanna play Fortnite?"
"That's what I said, isn't it?" I laughed.
"I mean yeah sure, I can teach you," He smiled.
"Alright," I returned the smile and he helped me bring the game up.
I had already known how to play Fortnite, I had been playing for the past month because I knew he played and I wanted to play with him one day because I knew we'd be back. I gave my attention to him telling me how to play, and half way through the game, he handed me the controller. I played normally, fifteen minutes later, I won the round, and I saw his jaw drop.
"You're absolutely amazing," He gave me a high five and I grinned.
"Thank you," I grinned even more.
"You wanna play again?" He asked.
"Duh."
I played at least eight more rounds, and won six of them, placed third for the other two. Matt staired at me in shock, and I just grinned at him.
"How-"
"I don't know, beginners luck," I smiled.
"You've played before," He laughed.
"Maybe," I smirked, standing up.
"Ava," He looked into my eyes.
"Matthew," I smiled.
His head dipped down and kissed me and I kissed him back, smiling, and then Chris broke the door open.
"OH HEY-" He yelled, causing us to just apart.
"Get out Chris," Matt groaned.
"No, I'm bored."
I sat on Matt's bed and he sat next to me, then Chris wedged his way in-between us. Matt and I glanced at each other and I tried not to laugh.
"Let's watch something!"
"Oh movie?" Nick asked.
"It's 3:00 in the fucking morning, can I go to sleep?" Matt groaned.
"You weren't sleeping when you were sucking Ava's face," Chris smirked.
"I hate you," He rolled his eyes.
I slowly started to fall asleep between the bickering, I felt right at home. I could still hear their voices while I was in a light sleep though, so whatever they thought I couldn't hear, I surely could.
"Would you two stop she's asleep," Nick scoffed.
"No she's no- oh damn she is," Chris started to lower his voice.
"Get OUT," Matt whisper yelled.
"Fine, fine," Chris groaned, and left, and I heard another pair of footsteps, guessing Nick.
The lights were turned off and I felt Matt move closer to me, I subconsciously snuggled into him and could hear his heart beating.
"I love you, Ava, to the ends of the earth," He whispered, and kissed the top of my head.
My breaths synced with his and so did my heartbeat. I smiled in my sleep and felt myself go deeper.
