Chapter 12: Life isn't fair

Scottie's POV

I couldn't believe what I just heard. Megan actually snitched? For the first time in my life I'm terrified. I'm supposed to finish high school, get married, start a new life after college. Now, now all of that's gone, And it's mostly my fault. I got up and quickly turned off the TV. My phone started vibrating. It was Jake. What the hell does he want? I slid the answer symbol across the screen. "Hello?" "Scottie?" He spoke in a rushed tone. I spoke up "yea?", "What's wrong Jake?"

"Scottie, I don't know why the hell you killed Crosania but I need to tell you something". I sighed then wearily replied in sarcasm "oh do tell". "Ok Scottie I know this must sound crazy, but I don't think Crosania is really dead". "What?" I replied in shock. Jake sounded a little insane but in a way I actually believed him. "You didn't see all of this morning's news?" I said "no". "Scottie, after the cops found Crosania's body, everyone that was at the crime scene including the cops were taken out, as in they were all killed". With the information I received, it was too much for me to comprehend.

I dropped the phone and held my head in my hands. Jake responded "Scottie? , Scott you there"? I picked the phone back up and pinched the bridge of my nose. "Jake p-please tell me the rest". I responded sounding more scared than ever. "Scottie this is gonna scare you even more but, After the massacre, Crosania's body was gone" Jake said sounding shocked. I couldn't take it, so I hung up on Jake. God, what am I going to do? I'm going to die.

I went upstairs to my room after I heard the door to my mom's room open. I guess she must've seen the news this morning. I grabbed my bookbag, ran down the stairs, and headed out the door. Just my luck it was raining. I ran all the way to school because I couldn't take the dirty looks I was given by students on my way to school. I guess this is one way of god's revenge on the cruel ones.
