Leo's POV:
Yes! I thought. Emily got to stay with us. Except we didn't have anywhere to stay. Jason sent Emily to find somewhere to live, using those contacts of hers. The rest of us waited at Central Park, snacking on slices of pizza and drinking lemonade.
A couple of hours later, we were laughing and telling jokes, camp-fire style. Annabeth was watching Percy looking sadly at his not-blue drink, a small smile on her face. Suddenly Emily came into view, panting as she came to a stop next to us.
"I found a place!" She called triumphantly. "It's the upper levels of a large apartment."
We all jumped up with a cheer. We followed Emily all the way to a huge building. It was really tall and modern, with wooden planks and glass everywhere. My jaw dropped. It was amazing!
She led us inside. It was even better than its exterior! Emily showed us the shared kitchen. It was pretty cool, but Emily said that we wouldn't need it much. I didn't dwell on it.
We saw the lounge. Three large plush sofas surrounded a circular wooden table. The room had a huge modern tv and a fish tank covered a whole wall. Percy leaped towards them and began to gesture animatedly.
Finally she showed us our rooms. They each covered half a level, which was big for rooms. My room was freaking awesome!
It was filled with tools I could only dream about. On the wall, photos of my inventions stood proudly. Next to them, there was a glowing red button. I pressed it and the wall furthest away from me came away, replaced with a fricking double bed. It was the absolute best bedroom that a demigod could have!
In the corner I saw a Hephaestus stand. I guess the gods wanted offerings even when we were on a quest. I could imagine a sign on my door saying: 'Mc Shizzle the Magnificent' Cool, right?
I walked out and saw opposite to my room was a door labelled 'Emily' in gold cursive. I knocked on the door. It opened, and Emily looked at me. "Hey Leo! Do you like your room?" She asked.
I smiled brightly at her. "It's perfect!" Without thinking, I darted forward and hugged her. I don't know what I was doing. My mind was only thinking one thought. Or maybe about one person. Uggh shut up Leo! Maybe Lady Aphrodite had something to do with this...
Emily stood still, frozen. I was about to pull away and apologise when I felt two arms hug me tightly.
Emily's POV:
How did the demigods agree? You may well ask. If I was them, I would have popped them in a suitcase and post them back to Camp.
After I had so miraculously been allowed to stay, I had approached an estate agent and he had helped me get the apartment and furnish it. It was weird though. At first, he was like all New York workers, annoying, bored and bossy. Then as I was about to leave, I snapped my fingers and he stood stiffly.
I turned around to find his eyes had this dreamy look and and he wouldn't accept money. After living in New York for most of my life, this was a new level of creepy. But I went along with it, managed to furnish an apartment for the demigods, and they seem pretty happy.
I had designed my room so that only a person who could control fire could open the door. I don't really know why I did it. Maybe I just wanted to keep my secrets, well secret.
Inside, it was designed like the jungled Xanadu, being the only place I could focus. My bed was a hammock lined with silk, suspended from the ceiling with vines. On the walls I hung photos of me, Joel, Paelen, Pegasus and so many more. In the corner, I put a desk with a laptop and all of the important things I had.
The Pegasus pendant I placed on my neck, along with a necklace with a flame pendant. Agent B's journal was in a locked drawer, along with my one from the war. I had a black camera which was draped on a light blue chair. There was a small birch wardrobe in the corner of the room, because I was never a mad shopper.
After I had sorted the few things in my bag, I sat on the chair fingering my pendant. Deep in thought, I didn't hear the knock on my door. The person knocked again, and I opened the door to find Leo, looking slightly sheepish.
"Hey Leo!" I said. "Do you like your room?"
He smiled brightly at me. A crooked smile that I knew all too well...
"It's perfect!" He cried, shaking me out of my thoughts. In an instant, he ran forward and gave me a hug.
I froze. Nobody had hugged me for ages. My thoughts drifted to Paelen. His funny smile and his way of making me smile in the darkest of times. Leo reminded me too much of him. I wanted to run away, to wake up and realise this was just a nightmare. But I couldn't. Life isn't a dream, and I knew what awaited me if I returned to Olympus.
I'm not sure what came over me, but suddenly I had wrapped my arms around him. Tears cascaded down my cheeks, making my vision blurry. I hugged Leo tighter. Maybe I wasn't alone. Maybe I could stay here and begin a new life. But nobody could forget the past.
Annabeth's POV:
Wait what? Miss Perfect had just disobeyed a direct order, and we were just opening our arms to her? No way. I had to talk to the gods. They must have realised that something is seriously up with that creep. My mother would put a stop with it. I know she will.
Meanwhile I would watch little Emily, watch her like a hawk. I will find out why she's so weird, where she comes from, and most importantly, her weaknesses. I would wait, then strike. When she finds out what hit her, she'll beg. But I will be merciless. She would pay for what she did to me.
To me and Percy.
