Emily's POV:
The next day, I woke up by the sound of tyres screeching. I sat bolt upright. Last night. Chiron. The quest. I dressed quickly in a light blue jumper, navy leggings and white converse trainers. I half walked/ran to the Athena cabin. Sure enough, Annabeth and her half siblings were talking about the quest. I could see their minds go into overload as they discussed the prophecy.
I walked around in circles. My thoughts were filled with concern and worry for the demigods. They were too young to be handed such a dangerous mission. They could die on a mission (or quest, as they call it) or even worse, get taken prison or by the CRU and have no way out. The Olympians find them a threat, so they had no chance!
I cursed myself mentally. I just kept on thinking about the Olympians when they would probably not even care about me! They were just laughing around, Paelen and Joel and Lorin just lording it up over there. Pegasus spending all of his time with a stupid chestnut mare...
I shook my head. How hard was it to not think about some people? Surprisingly, insanely hard! I had to focus if I wanted the demigods to live. I knew that they were heading into a suicidal quest. So just bring someone who can't die! Problem solved. But nooo, this Chiron, this Mr D, they said that it's best that I stayed. I refuse to stand by and watch them die. I may have limited powers, but I'm still more powerful than those demigods, and a lot stronger!
The next day, I found Piper packing up a case. I sighed, knowing that in just a couple of days, she and all the demigods could be dead. I had to come with them! I racked my brain for an answer. Suddenly, I had it. I laughed internally. Seven would be bringing an honorary guest.
I walked down the hill to meet Leo and a guy called Jason.
"Hey Leo," I called.
"Hiya, Emily," he replied.
"Are you looking forward to the quest?" I asked.
Leo looked sad. "Yeah, but I wished you could come too. I'll miss you alot." Then he blushed, realising what he had just said.
I laughed. "Maybe I could come."
Our short conversation was interrupted by Jason, a blonde, steely eyed guy. "Except that Chiron said you can't, Emily. Rules are rules."
I laughed internally. If he knew how many rules I had broken and how many more I would break!
I smiled. "I'm gonna go talk to Percy." Leo looked a little disappointed, but I pushed the guilt down. Once I was out of their sight, I leapt into the limousine's small boot. The one time I could have had Paelen's special power...
I snapped back. Enough! I crouched down and shut the boot behind me. I hadn't expected it to be pitch black though. The old Emily would never have been able to see a single thing, but Emily 'Mark II' could faintly see the outlines of seven large suitcases. Don't ask me how they were able to fit in.
I waited for what seemed like hours. Eventually, I heard 4 doors slamming shut, indicating the demigods' arrival. I heard the tyres start to move. The engine roared and I knew that we were racing into one of the New York entrances.
We drove along. I could hear the demigods' talk, with occasional bursts by Leo. I was uneasy. I could feel a winged presence following us, and I prayed that it wasn't a Fury. I wasn't a fan of them.
We began to cross a bridge. I guessed it was the Brooklyn Bridge based on the smooth tarmac. We drove on, on for what seemed to be centuries.
Finally we stopped. I heard the doors slam, and the demigods thanking their driver, whoever that was. I opened the boot and crept around the side of the car, quietly dragging my dark red suitcase. It had taken forever to persuade Silena to sell it to me. The demigods hauled their suitcases and bags out before waving the car off.
I approached them as their backs were turned to me. "Hey," I called softly. All of them whipped round, blades facing me. I shoved my own sword forward, blocking their attack.
"Emily!" Leo sounded happy. "What are you doing here!"
I looked at them all. "It's about the prophecy. There's a war coming –"
Annabeth interrupted. "So you think you can come along and we'll happily protect you?!"
"Wait what?" I shouted. How could she be so wrong? "If anyone needs protecting, then it's the kids of the Big Three! They will be targeted and ransomed! Have you never been in a war situation? The Gods will fight, whoever the war is aimed at!"
I could see their thoughts. Mistrust, anger and shock.
"So?" Hazel challenged. "What has this to do with you?"
I looked at her. "I can help. I know how to fight, and I know people who can find this girl quicker than you can. "I can contact them and they'll begin as long as you let me on this quest."
I could feel the unease coming at me in waves. They didn't know whether to trust me.
Jason, stepped forward looking important. He looked around. "Why don't we put it to a vote?" He offered. "Who wants Emily to go?"
Annabeth stuck her hand in the air, as did Frank and Hazel. We looked around before Jason spoke again. "And who wants Emily to stay?"
Leo put his hand up and grinned at me. Percy also put his hand up, along with Piper and Jason. Leo started bouncing around. I got to stay I thought. My thoughts drifted to the demigods. Why does Annabeth have such a problem with me? The Seven started to group together, discussing tactics.
From behind, Piper gripped my arm. "You had better show me that I made the right choice." She whispered, trying to sound menacing. I smiled.
"How about starting Percabeth?"
