Chapter 6: The Day of Venom Comes Out

In the CCC Media office

Barry was whooshing around the room and said as he sighed "Well, what do you think?"

Cecile looks up for a second and says "Looks great." she sighs.

Barry says "We mean, we could move the couch against the wall, if that'll help." then he moves it at super speed.

He looks at Cecile and says "Cecile, it's just couch in the corner or against the wall is pretty much the extent of our interior design knowledge."

Cecile says "I'm sorry, babe. It's-- It's just, It's been a week since Iris and I launched the Central City Citizen, and we are still struggling to gain readers, and I think I just figured out why."

Barry starts to read "'Iris West and Cecile Allen's first published articles as an aspiring online news maven brings one word to mind: 'boring'. Their stories lack the edgy content made popular by sites such as Spencer Young's game-changing Spyn Zone. In short, Iris West and Cecile Allen play it safe'."

Barry stands up from leaning and says "Cecile, come on. You can't listen to this. You two are real journalists. You two don't want to write like Spencer Young. She didn't care about facts."

Cecile says "Yeah, but at least she wrote about things that people cared about, like I did when I was writing about DeVoe."

Barry says "You wanna write about Cicada."

Cecile nods.

Barry shrugs and says "Fine. Call us if you need us. We'll be at STAR Labs."

Cecile says "Yes, of course. (she sighs as she grabs her bag) I've got a lot of digging to do, and I think I have a hunch where to start."

Cecile kissed Barry's cheek as she said, "Mwah."

Barry says "All right." and Cecile leaves.

At STAR Labs

Ralph was in the Med lab with Caitlin, Samantha, Delsin, and Barry and he said, "So you really think this might be it?"

Caitlin says "Cisco sent me this sample to corroborate his findings, and it all checks out. I'm sending it back to him for final processing, but I think we may have found a way to suppress the metagenome."

Barry says "Great. Then we can use it to de-power Cicada, stop him for good."

Ralph says "So what's the plan? Put this thing in a tranq gun and go all 'American Sniper' on him?"

Caitlin says "It's not that simple."

She walked over to the computer as the other followed.

Caitlin says "So Cisco's breakthrough came from analyzing identical twins who were hit by the particle accelerator dark matter, cases where one developed powers and the other didn't. The key difference in both cases..."

Barry saw what she pulled up and said, "The pituitary gland?"

Caitlin says "Exactly. In some cases, the pituitary gland metabolizes dark matter, thus manifesting in meta powers."

Delsin says "So to turn a meta-human into a human-human..."

Caitlin says "We neutralize the dark matter in the pituitary gland. Except there's one problem."

Then she says "The cure isn't instant. We would have to immobilize Cicada for long enough for the cure to take effect."

Delsin asks "How long will that take?"

Caitlin says "Best guess, a minute."

Ralph says "It's gonna be damn near impossible to hold him still for one second, much less 60."
