a/n: I'm back! put your pitch forks away and let me explain: these past 2 months have been really hard on me school/family/friends wise, so I haven't been writing or even playing genshin as much I kinda fell out of love with both and stopped for a bit. not to mention a breakup + realizing a lot about myself on such a short amount of time. but I'm back now and my mental health is better for now. I promise to update when I can, but I don't know how often that will be. I have winter break in a few days, so maybe i'll update again over that week. again, i'm sorry.

DAY ONE - HOUR TWELVE

You didn't come out of your room for a few hours after that. It was late, so late that when you peeked over at the window you couldn't even see the trees outside because it was so dark. Not only that, but you were so hungry, and so cold.

You hadn't heard Ei come upstairs, and figured maybe she was cooped up downstairs by the fireplace or something.

Not that you cared.

But... a part of you did wonder how she reacted after the... name drop.

Sighing, you push your face into your hands. Stupid. How could you be so stupid? Makoto and Ei are nothing alike besides their physical appearance- why? Why did you have to fuck up so bad?

No, don't think about it like that.

Come on, Y/n, you're okay.

3..3..-

"Fuck this," You groan, pushing up and moving to the bedroom door. You walk downstairs and move to the living room.

As you figured, Ei is in there. Her knees are pulled to her chest, long purple hair sprawled out around her as she sits by the orange glow of the fireplace.

Your heart aches.

"Hey."

Ei jumps at your voice and looks over, her expression softens. "Hey.." She hesitates and looks away. "We don't- have to talk about it. You know."

"I.." Your feet lead you to her and you sigh, sitting down beside her. "I want to."

Ei hums, watching the ground. "You're better than me, that's for sure.."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean-" Ei hesitated. "If I were you, I'd steer clear of me for the rest of my life. But I...I get it, yknow? I look like her."

Your breath is shaky. "You do."

"And you miss her."

"I do." You pause. "You miss her too."

"...I do."

Your eyes scan Ei's face as she looks off. Again, she's so distant despite being physically present. But you supposed... you were distant too. "I'm sorry."

Ei looks up, her eyes flickering as she finally meets your gaze. "What?"

"I'm sorry," Your head shakes. "I keep forgetting your grieving too. I keep forgetting it hurt you too, I made that worse today. I'm sorry."
