DAY THREE — HOUR TEN

"Sara said they'd be trying to make their way up here..." You murmured quietly, peeking outside of the window to watch the sun as it set. A sigh fell from your lips. "Though, i'm starting to think they weren't able to make much progress."

Ei hums from somewhere behind you, and the sound of her padding over fills your ears before her hand meets your waist in order to gently guide you aside. She herself peeks out the window briefly. "Good thing the snow stopped, though."

Her hand lingers on your waist.

It feels hot. And you gently guide your body away, pretending to be stretching to grab your phone, which you actually do.

Ei makes a noise; one disgruntled almost. "Hmp. Anyway," She forces her gaze away. "Our cabin is pretty high up, so they probably were only able to make it half way or so."

"In any case," She sighs and looks back at you. "We should be making something to eat, and then heading to bed soon. Go look in the kitchen for anything besides bacon."

"Alright.." You sigh, moving to the kitchen.

Once inside you lay your phone on the counter and open the freezer, practically sticking your whole face into the icebox until a noise catches your attention.

Something like a soft...buzz. Right near you.

Fearing it may be a bee or something, you swallow hard and pull your head out of the freezer with a few self encouraging whispers, before gently looking around and finding... nothing.

Well...

zz!

There it is again!

You pause and curiously look down— eyes nearly popping out of their sockets when you find the source to be...your phone! Buzzing with the sound of a call!

You didn't question this, and instantly grabbed your phone, swiping answer before you even read the contact. "Hello?"

"Oh my god, Y/n! Finally!"

Your heart nearly soars. "Sara I have never been happier to hear your voice!" You coo quietly, gripping the phone a little tighter. "Thank the archons we were finally able to get ahold of each other!"

"I know, I know," Sara sighs on the other end. "I saw today you'd read all my messages so I figured the worst of the storm was over and thought I'd give you a call. How are you doing...?"

"Uh.." You look back into the freezer and shrug. "Well we've been eating bacon for the past three days-"

"Not the food- you and Ei!" She speaks quickly, sounding a little concerned. "Though we'll have to come back to that food situation. Anyway, I hope you guys haven't been at each others throats—"
