Bailey and his mom's Birthday Weekend

Week of August 18, 2031

The week went by rather fast for us after James and I returned from New York. Scott said goodbye to us on Monday and left for home but he did say he will be here for the weekend. He wants to be here celebrating Bailey's fifth birthday. Also Scott said he will be in touch with us during the week and letting us know when he will be here.

We did see Erin on Tuesday and gave her our gifts from our New York trip. She's a hard person to catch because she's so busy. College classes, work and having her boyfriend live with her keeps her constantly on the go. She did find the time to come over and say hello to us.

"Hi there! What's up? I heard you came back from your trip." Erin said when we let her inside the house.

"Yes, we did return last Sunday." I answered as James and I led her into the living room. "Also we want to give you your souvenirs or gifts from Niagara Falls and New York City." I continued.

"You didn't have to get me anything." Erin said upon seeing our various things we got for her on the coffee table.

"We thought you would at least like some of them. Also we got you something when we were in Canada." I said as we sat down.

"Where are the kids?" Erin asked, glancing around and seeing only Becca playing on the floor.

"The boys are at school. Today's their first day of kindergarten." James answered.

"Wow! I hope they like it. I know they were saying earlier that they were scared of going." Erin said.

"Yeah, they still said that yesterday while we helped them get ready for today." I remarked.

"Please tell them I wish good luck to the boys." Erin said.

"Will do. All of these are yours." James said gesturing at the coffee table. Erin randomly picked up a few things, to look at what we bought for her. We got her a Statue of Liberty and an Empire State Building for her collection of decorations for the bookcase. James went a little overboard on those decorative buildings for decorating. She saw the candy bar we bought and saw the Hershey candy bar wrapper. She smiled as she saw the wrapper saying Niagara Falls.

"Thanks so much! I hope this is still good to eat." She said as she handled the chocolate bar in her hand.

"We still have ours. I have it in the refrigerator as of now!" James laughed.

"We also did the same with yours. Someone at the factory said to keep them chilled so they do not melt." I said.

"I'll have to share mine with Balthazar." She excitedly said and placed the candy bar on the table.

"Who is Balthazar?" James casually asked. He didn't want to sound like he's being intrusive since we learned some about Erin's boyfriend from her cousin. Erin just giggled.

"He's my boyfriend or long-distance guy. It's a long story but all I can say is that we're always having a hard time being in one spot for long. Like two ships passing through the night!" Erin explained. "This is the first time we can actually be together longer than two weeks." She added.

"Sounds rather intriguing and sort of like star-crossed lovers." I commented. She just smiled and nodded her head.

"Don't tell me he works for the government!" James remarked, sounding like he's looking.

"Not exactly! He's more or less in the family business and travels a lot for his job." Erin said, laughing more now. "He did work for some organization in Rome. I don't know which one but he did some security and protected people." Erin elaborated.
