Should I dare to dream,
Of a star that's out of reach?
Should I long
For you to be mine,
When I am merely an admirer?
If you're in doubt,
About expectations I've claimed not to hold,
The hope that your eyes might meet mine,
The hope that your smile might be meant for me,
The hope that you might harbour some feelings for me,
Dismiss your doubts, sweet one.
For why should I hold such anticipation?
Why should I succumb to desire?
Knowing that you can't be mine,
Why should I deceive myself?
When I can't persuade someone,
Who seems oblivious to this silent symphony my heart plays,
To perceive me as I perceive him?—ancn.
