"You can't just try to turn me into a cat for the show, Rui! How would that even work?!?" Tsukasa was practically screaming at him, because the idea itself was quite dumb. The show was a simple journey is a fantasy world, but then an evil witch turns the amazing character and hero into a pitiful, small cat. Rui's idea was simple.
"Instead of trying to convince a cat to preform, why not turn you into one?" The look in Rui's eye made Tsukasa think of a mad scientist, rather than a stage director. The garage stunk of chemicals and burning metal. And after an entire day of work, Rui figured out how to make it. The potion flowed like glue and look like it was melted gummies. All he needed to do was to call up his favorite test subject and run a few experiments.
But just as was about to, something stopped him. His conscience was telling him to explain why he was here at the wee hours of the morning, but he didn't know why. After a brief argument with himself, he decided to tell Tsukasa the plan. Tsukasa didn't like it one bit. He complained how much of a disaster could happen if something went wrong, how if he somehow got hurt, he wouldn't be able to help Saki.
He was pulling and pushing on Rui's shirt for what Rui felt like hours, but after a while, he calmed himself down. He got an odd look in his face, took a deep breath, and spoke to Rui, more calmly this time.
"Thanks for letting me know this time what was happening, the last few stunts you did I had to pull myself out of. Why did you tell me anyway?" Rui seemed to stagger after hearing that. He felt a pain in him, a pain he never felt before. He needed to say something, Tsukasa was staring to worry for him after all.
"Well... I thought that umm... uhh..." the words couldn't get out of his mouth, he felt a feeling he never knew he could feel. Was it pain? No he hit his hand while making the potion. Was it fear? No, it was something else. Something far more complex than Rui thought it would be. He tried to get the words out, and he tried multiple different ways, but finally he himself took a deep breath, and spoke as bravely as he could.
"Tsukasa-kun. I need to tell you something, something that I needed to tell you for a long time. I think that we need to-" but before he could get the most important words out the doorbell rang, scaring both Tsukasa and Rui. Tsukasa already had enough shocks for the past few minutes, so a doorbell at this hour only added to it.
He rushed to the door, with Rui following closely behind. He told himself to figure out the best way to tell Tsukasa, but it wouldn't be right now. Tsukasa opened the door to find Toya? He's meant to be practicing piano at his dad's house. But before Tsukasa can even get a word in Toya stumbles into the house, and falls face first right before the living room. Tsukasa and Rui both look at each other before grabbing him, and taking him to the couch, putting a blanket onto him to keep him warm. Tsukasa has a million questions floating around his head, but the biggest one is easy to ask.
"What were you going to tell me Rui?" Tsukasa looks as Rui, and Rui looks away. He can't tell him about it. Not yet.
"Well I wanted to tell you that your sister is awake from all the noise we made." Rui points to the stairs, and Tsukasa spins to find Saki, in her classic PJ attire. She looks tired, worried, and confused. Tsukasa already knows what she's going to ask, and he knows it's going to be a long ask.
