ED'S POV:
After Josh and Kait left, Juliet went off somewhere in her house, just leaving me uncomfortably sat in the living room. I pulled out my phone and started playing Temple Run, engrossed in the game until I felt a tap on my shoulder and jumped. "Hey! You made me die!" I accused.
Juliet just giggled, "I'm sorry. Well I just wanted to tell you the guest bedroom is all made up for you and, here." She handed me a stack of clothes which consisted of some khaki cutoffs, a green graphic t-shirt, and a pair of socks.
I raised my eyebrows, "Where'd you get these?"
"You left them here that day we got caught in the rain." I chuckled at the thorny of us wandering around soaking wet. That day was quite fun. "Do you have a bag or anything?" Juliet asked.
I shook my head, "Just my rucksack."
"Huh?" Juliet asked.
I sighed and recomposed myself, putting on the best American accent I could muster, "Sorry, my backpack." Juliet busted out laughing and I laughed along with her. "I left it by my shoes. Lemme go get it." Juliet followed me to the front door where I grabbed the worn out rucksack, and the she lead me to a comfortably sized room that had calming light blue walls and a queen sized bed with a tan duvet with blue and beige cushions. There was a wooden dressing table and a small closet in the corner. A small bedside table was placed to the right of the bed, an alarm clock and lamp sitting atop it. I smiled and set my bag on the bed.
"The bathroom is just across the hall and my room is two doors down if you need anything," Juliet told me.
"Thanks."
Juliet yawned, "I'm going to go to bed I've got work tomorrow. You alright?"
"Yeah I've got jet lag so Ill sleep as well. See you in the morning." I reached out for a hug but Juliet just kissed to top of my head instead. I glared at her, but she just smirked.
"What? Your cute." For some odd reason I blushed, even though I knew she just meant it playfully.
"Good night Jules."
"Night, Ed."
She closed the door and I grabbed a pair of sweats from my bag, chucking my jeans in the floor. I would normally just sleep in my boxers, but I wasn't really sure how Juliet would react to that. I pulled my tshirt up over my head, plugged my phone in its charger, and turned out the light. I got under the duvet covers and was out like a light.
-------------------
The next morning, I woke up to the sound of singing. Pretty nice singing actually. And loud. Very loud. I got up as looked at the clock. It was only 6:30 AM. And Juliet was singing. I put on my glasses so my eyes could adjust to the harsh morning light and I slowly, but surely got out of bed. I could sleep more later. I walked out of my room and into the hallway, in search of a highly caffeinated cup of coffee. I walked out into the kitchen and see Juliet buttering a piece of toast and belting whatever song was on the radio. He hair was stringy wet, as if she'd just got out of the shower, and she was in a lavender flowy skirt, a black tight fitting top, and her classic oxfords. I doubted I'd ever see her in much else. She had no makeup on, yet she looked perfect. "Morning," I managed to croak out, as the first words of the day are always the hardest.
"Good morning sleepy-Ed! Get it? Oh wow I'm so punny." I managed to crack a smile at her dorky joke. "Want some toast?" Juliet asked me, surprisingly peppy for this early. I yawned and nodded and she placed a plate in front of me.
"Thank you."
She nodded and grabbed two mugs from the cupboard, pouring coffee in each of them, "How do you take yours?"
"Black, thanks."
Juliet smiled, "Me too, it's bittersweet that way isn't it?" I nodded as she handed me the mug and I sat down at the table. Juliet grabbed her mug and plate and sat across from me. "Did I wake you up? With my...erm....singing?"
"Yeah but I needed to get up anyway. Plus you sounded quite nice," I smiled at her.
"Really?"Juliet asked, eyes wide.
"Yeah! Does that surprise you?"
" Yeah actually, no ones ever really heard me sing before, I'm quite shy when it comes to that." She looked down at her plate, embarrassed.
"Well you'll have to sing for me again sometime," I proposed to her.
She nodded and sighed, "So what do you have planned for today?"
"I'm going to meet up with some of my mates for lunch, and then I'm playing a gig at the Jingle Ball tonight. Should be cool."
"That sounds actually like a lot of fun, Ed! Meanwhile I'm writing articles and getting my boss coffee..."
"Well if you can get off work early, you should try to come tonight, you'll be my personal guest," I declared, not exactly taking no for an answer.
"I don't know... You're working. Plus I don't want to be a bother..."
I scoffed, "Juliet, please. You'll never be a bother. You're one of my best friends and I'd love for you to be there. A bunch of other singers will be there too, so you don't even have to listen to boring old me all that long."
Juliet giggled, "Aww but I like boring old you."
I grinned, "Good, because I like you too, Jules." Juliet checked her watch and gave me a panic stricken face.
"I really have to get going to work. Ill try to make it tonight! Have a great day, Ed!"
"You too, Juliet!" And with that, she ran out the door, hair still dripping wet, looking perfect as ever.
