JULIET'S POV:

I arrived at work much quicker than usual because for once traffic wasn't so bad. When I got there, I went about my usual routine, saying hello to Ashley, and getting coffees for Emily and I. I went about doing my regular activities when Sarah called. She was my best friend, but she always managed to call at the worst times. "Hello?" I picked up.

"Hey guess what?"

"What Sarah, I'm really kind of busy-"

"Oh hush. I won tickets to the Jingle Ball tonight!"

I paused and blinked a few times, registering what she had just said, "Oh."

"What? Are you not excited?" Sarah asked, sounding confused.

"No it's not that. Sounds great Sarah."

She squealed with excitement, "Yay! Ill pick you up at six, yeah?"

"Sounds like a plan. Bye now."

"Bye Jules." I sighed upon hanging up with Sarah. I redialed my phone, but this time I dialed Ed's number. I figured he would still be at home, considering it would hardly be lunch time yet, to my surprise, he picked up almost immediately.

"Hello?" A familiar, scruffy voice asked.

"Hey Ed! I was just calling to talk to you about tonight?" I said, the statement forming more of a question than I had intended it to.

"What's wrong? Can you not come?" We asked, sounding slightly worried.

"No, that's not it at all! Actually my friend Sarah won us tickets so I was just calling to tell you that you don't have to go through the trouble of getting me tickets now!"

There was a slight pause on the other line, as if he was trying to think things over, "So you're not going to come back stage and hang out for a bit?" Ed questioned, sounding disappointed.

"Trust me, you wouldn't want me back there anyways. I'd probably start freaking out at all the famous people back there and I'd embarrass you."

"Oh Jules, you could never embarrass me. Plus most of those people, well the talented ones are just normal. The ones who feel like they've got something to prove to the world are the ones who turn out to be douches."

I smiled at his wisdom, "Well I'm glad you aren't a douche. I'd have never even given you the time of day if that were the case."

"Is that so?" Ed joked.

"Mmhmm. Well I have to get back to work, Eddy boy. Ill be in the crowd cheering you on tonight. Plus I'll see you at home, yeah?"

"Of course. See you later, Juliet." As I was hanging up, Emily walked in the room.

"Who was that?" she asked.

"Oh that was my friend. We're going to the Jingle Ball tonight."

"That sounds fun! But Juliet I told you no more personal calls while on the job. Don't let it happen again."

"Of course. I'm sorry Emily." She left the room in a huff, but that was to be expected. It was just Emily's personality. The rest of the went off without a hitch, and soon I was on my way back home to get ready.

By the time I arrived home, it was already 5:30, so I only had a few minutes to get ready before Sarah would arrive. I wasn't really used to going out a lot, usually just to the diner or to whatever underground concert Sarah had dragged me to. I wasn't sure how this thing really worked, so I dressed kind of casual, hoping not to stick out like a sore thumb. I threw on some jeans, my infamous oxfords, and a red blouse, hoping to appear somewhat festive. I freshened up my makeup, brushed out my hair and figured this was as good as it was going to get. I was one of those people who, despite my love of fashion, rarely spent much time myself. I had a quirky style and would end up piecing together outfits rather quickly. They usually ended up working out, but I never wanted to look like I tried much. Makeup was usually kept to a minimum, but I always had lipstick on, always. Even if I were sat in sweats and a tshirt, my lips would always be tinted some sort of pink shade. I grabbed my purse, and ran out the door just in time for Sarah to pull up. She had her hair down in waves today, which looked great with her black-brown hair and olive colored skin. I guess I hadn't gotten the memo to dress up, as she was in a flouncy purple dress and boots, but I wasn't about to go change. I didn't care that much about it. I got in the car and Sarah went about babbling on, sharing her excitement for the night ahead. She was telling me all her plans to meet the performers, and I just rolled my eyes at the fact we were in our twenties, yet my best friend still behaved like a teenager when it came to music.

The concert was actually really fun, it was everyone currently on the radio, so it was cool to see so many genres in one place. Ed was definitely right about the talented people being the most humble. You could spot the douchebags from a mile away. We didn't have that great of seats, but there were monitors everywhere so it was no trouble to see what was going on onstage. When Ed got onstage, I was mesmerized by how great he was with the crowd. Not many people knew all of his songs, but that didn't phase him. He sang along and put his heart and would into every note. At one point in his set, he finally caught my eye and he smiled, probably relieved I wasn't blowing him off entirely. I smiled back, but I doubt he from the distance we were apart.

When the show was over, after I finally convinced Sarah we wouldn't be meeting any celebrities tonight, we drove back to my house, as I figured we needed a bit of cooling off time, and Ed probably wouldn't be home yet, considering the show had quite literally just finished. Sarah parked her car on the driveway, and we walked in through the front door. I slid off my shoes and left the storm door open for Sarah to come in. She must've been grabbing something from the car. "Hey Jules," Ed said casually as I walked into the living room. He was sat on the couch, clad in some flannel pajama bottoms and a blue hoodie and was sprawled across the couch with a cup of tea in one hand, a remote in the other.

I stopped dead in my tracks, "Hey Ed... What're you doing here?"

"I left pretty much right after my set. Why? Am I not supposed to be here? Have you brought a guy home or something?" he joked, turning around on the couch to face me.

I shook my head, "No, erm I just-" I was interrupted by Sarah walking in the room.

I saw Sarah's eyes go extremely wide when she saw Ed, then her brow furrowed, "Umm, am I missing something here?" I just chuckled as Ed set his tea down on the table by the couch and walked over to us.

"You must be this Sarah I've heard so much about! I'm Ed." He held out his hand for her to shake it, and Sarah stood there gaping for a bit, before finally registering the gesture and shook his hand firmly.

"Yeah... We-we've met before."

Ed blushed, obviously embarrassed, "Oh I'm sorry! I guess I forgot. I meet a lot of people... But I won't forget this time I promise!"

Sarah nodded, "Oh it's fine. Your quite busy aren't you? Well you did a great job tonight!" It was apparent that she was doing her best to remain calm for Ed's sake, but I could see in her eyes she a freaking out internally.

"Thank you! Well I guess I'm glad Jules didn't totally blow me off..."

"What? I did no such thing!" I protested, although looking back, I guess I really did blow him off.

Sarah chuckled,"Wait, what?"

"I wanted Juliet to come hang out backstage with me tonight, but she got other tickets..." Ed said, and made a face showing he immediately regretted his tone.

"Juliet next time just tell me you have better plans and I won't mind. I could've brought Kait or someone you know..." I sighed, as I hated getting scolded by my friends.

"Well it's all over now isn't it? I'm sorry Ed, I didn't think I was a big deal to you to be quite honest. I thought it was just a casual invite like come if you can." I was left in such an awkward position, I couldn't understand why this mattered so much to Ed.

"Well I should probably go now, I'll umm... see you later Juliet," said Sarah who walked out of the living room and out the front door.

"I'm sorry.." Ed said quietly, I almost didn't catch it.

"For what?" I asked.

"I don't know really... I was kind of a jerk to your friend... And to you..."

I shook my head, and patted him on the shoulder,"Don't worry about it. Let's just get some sleep alright?"

He nodded,"G'night, Jules."

I kissed his cheek and he blushed, "Sleep tight, Ed."
