Upon reaching home Y/N scrolled through her phone, seeing a familiar name.
"Hana"She dialled the number and she didn't pick up. This pierced her heart even more, hoping that Hana would be doing well. She couldn't hold in she didn't have anyone to talk to, she broke down.
Her eyes couldn't stop, the only one she had is no longer with her. She cried until sleep claimed her.
Months passed and there was no answer about Mitsuki's death. Y/N felt helpless, she was empty. And for Hana, her phone was still unreachable.
Much later, Y/N gave up on finding the reason for her best friend's death, it was useless nothing helped, no sign of anything.
Her days became a relentless cycle: wake up, prepare breakfast, work, return home, eat dinner, and sleep. It was monotonous, devoid of purpose.
She was merely existing.
She was alone she didn't have anyone to talk to, no one to share her thoughts, no one to tell about her joys and sorrows.
Y/N didn't have a boyfriend, in fact she never did. She wanted to have one but she knew why the guys tried to hit on her. She didn't want a meaningless relationship, she wanted something that would last.
Attempts to reach Hana met with silence, an eerie feeling of mystery surrounding her absence. Now that she's feeling better, she decided pay a visit to the orphanage, maybe that would make her feel, lively and know Hana's situation.
She got dressed and made her way to a place which once was her home. The day was bright and shining, unlike her heart.
After getting off to the station she made her way to the orphanage. She walked silently through the bustling and chatty street.
She arrived at the orphanage oh, the nostalgia hit her. She looked at the orphanage and walked towards the gate as she remembered the when she was here. The good and the bad.
Lost in thought, she arrived at the entrance, eyes fixed on the gate. It took her a moment to realize where she stood. Glancing around, she spotted a lock and a note, its words unsettling.
"DO NOT ENTER
CLOSED INDEFINITELY""How? This makes no sense," she pondered aloud, a mixture of disbelief and confusion.
She spotted a small food stall. She approached the man running the stall.
"Excuse me," she began, and he turned to her, curious.
"Do you know why this place shut down, and when?, she asked.
"Oh, this orphanage? It abruptly shut its doors months ago. Strange, but nobody really went in to find out. People now just term it as "The Haunted Orphanage".", the man said looking at the orphanage.
Y/N's heart dropped at the information, she couldn't believe the man's words.
"Miss? are you alright?", the man asked concerned.
She nodded, her discomfort palpable. "Yeah, I'm... I'm fine."
"Take care of yourself Miss, you're too young to be stressing out, take care of yourself and make the fullest of your life, you never know when it might end.", the man advised in a kind tone and a genuine smile.
Y/N felt a glimmer of warmth, a long-forgotten feeling.
"Yeah... thank you. I'll be on my way. Take care," she replied, offering a grateful smile.
One year later
Same life, in fact worse. Co-workers sought for Y/N's attention, their attempts at flirtation met with an uneasy smile or ignorance.
This caused the girls around her to develop a feeling of dislike and envy. A lot guys who tried to get Y/N's attention we're already being crushed on by other females.
Y/N didn't care, did she?
All these negativity were clouding her mind, but now she didn't think about it much, it was like a normal day of her life.
In this, she also developed new habits, like whenever she wanted to talk to someone she would open the notes app and write her feelings and thoughts down, she kept it short and sweet. This helped a lot.
She also liked watching anime and playing some games on her phone to keep her occupied, away for reality, escaping it. She dreamt of owning a gaming console, but financial restrictions kept it out of reach.
Y/N just arrived back home after a long day of work, she freshened up and started to make dinner. She wasn't feeling a need to do a lot, so she just prepared a small meal and enjoyed it.
With Saturday approaching, a holiday awaited. The idea of a late-night stroll appealed to her, prompting a visit to the closet.
She got up from the couch and walked to the closet, she was already in a cozy bottoms all she needed was a top to pair it up with. She dug in her closet looking for it, after a while she found the perfect one.
A black cozy sweatpants paired up with a grey fitted top, it wasn't cropped nor a full long, it ended where her sweatpants started.
She took her phone, put on a comfortable shoes, locked the door and left the building. On her way down the stairs she saw her landlord and greeted her kindly.
She walked while one of her hands in the pocket where the phone was tucked in. She was looking around the place, it was filled with people chatting and buying things, oh she hated noisy places.
Choosing a quieter path, she ventured forward, looking around the place.
In the middle of her thoughts she heard,
"Meow.."
She looked around expecting to see a kitten but she didn't. She followed the voice and now was standing in front of some gate.
Animals held a special place in her heart, a break from human complexities. She didn't disliked humans, nor did she liked them, her judgment was reserved for those who proved themselves.
Circling the gate to pinpoint the source, she spotted a tail on the other side. Adjusting herself, she discovered an adorable, fur-covered feline. Her eagerness to meet her newfound friend was palpable.
Y/N looked around, seeing nobody was there she quickly climbed over the gate and landed on other side. She immediately looked over at the kitty.
"Ah, there you are.", she exclaimed and walked towards the furry friend.
She kneeled down and petted the kitten. "Aww."
As she continued to shower the cat with affection, she became aware of her surroundings. The setting was a school, but the late hour ensured that nobody would be around.
She continued to caress the cat's head until she heard a loud sound. She looked over to see that there was a blast on the top floor of the building, it was covered with dust and shards of concrete.
When it cleared, she saw something unnatural and something totally unbelievable.
