Darkness, nothing but darkness. It was like she was in a void. She couldn't feel anything, her skin numb to feel anything, her mind hazy to think anything. The only thing she could hear was her racing heart.

She blinked a few times in order to get a clear mind and view. She looked around hurriedly, desperate to find anything but she failed, it was nothing but darkness. She shook her head to wake herself up as she thought it was some kind of dream. Nothing worked.

Seconds passed, no progress. She could feel her heart thud against her chest as if it would burst out, her breathing fast and deep.

She started to panic, her hand coming up to feel anything around her but, nothing. Her breaths grew even more rapid and ragged as her hands desperately started to look for something. Her attempts were all futile.

After a few minutes, as she realised she made no progress, she started to panic even more but in a matter of seconds, her logical side of brain took over as she thought panicking would only worsen the situation.

She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, her hands coming down to rest at her sides. Slowly, deliberately, she inhaled again, the air filling her lungs, holding it before exhaling in a controlled, steady stream.

"I'm fine, it's fine. It's fine! It's all good, Y/N," She chanted continuously, her voice wavering at times.

Her hands clenched into fists at her sides, nails digging into her palms, but she quickly forced them to relax, feeling the tension slowly draining away with each repetition.

She could feel it—the frantic pounding of her heart, which had seemed on the verge of bursting, slowly beginning to slow down. With each breath, the tension that had gripped her eased just a little more.

She exhaled one long, steady breath, feeling the last remnant of anxiety slip away through her. Finally, she had done it.

After taking in a few steady and deliberate breaths, she finally opened her eyes. Her eyes widened and she jolted back slightly.

She was in an unknown room.

The walls were made of simple wooden panels. Sliding doors, framed with dark wood, their paper interiors translucent, allowing soft light to filter through. The floor was covered with tatami mats, their straw scent faint but comforting. A low, rectangular wooden table sat in the center, surrounded by cushions for seating, while a few simple wooden chests lined, indicating storage. The room exuded a calm atmosphere.

She was surprised and in awe; the room was well organised and the air around was so light and fresh. She had completely forgotten what had happened before.

"Furniture like this..? Isn't this all in the historical times..?"

She tried to hear out for anyone, but there was no sounds apart from the chirping of the birds. She took a moment before she deliberately made her way towards the door and gently slid it enough so that she could peek outside.

She looked out, her gaze scanning the area, as she didn't see anyone, she slid the door open carefully and stepped out. She walked in the hallway, as she looked around the place, fascinated.

She halted as she saw a door that was fully open. With quiet and deliberate steps, she made her way towards the door and peeked through.

Y/N caught sight of a lady kneeling on the tatami mat, her movements fluid and precise as she carefully wiped down the wooden floor with a cloth. She wore a simple hitatare in muted blue, the modest robe neatly arranged, and her hair was tied back with a plain pin. Despite the simplicity of her attire, there was an air of dignity in the way she moved, the focus and precision of her cleaning seemed formal.
