...Of Porcelain

When you're bought to be placed

You know where your place will be

up there in the highest corner

To smile through a mantlepiece

You're dusted & polished and placed again,

no heart is to be considered

& low shallow breaths are surpressed in pain

An upside down smile is a head severed

The twinkle should never leave your eyes

Even if it is merely sunlight reflecting on tears

When you've been placed upon the skies

You hold that position suspended on fears

Those pinched sore blushes add to your countenance

Of the duty you endured with such a position

The slightest crack holds promise of penance

A broken visage exciting social fission

You're a fragile piece of work

expected to stand strong & bold

Against every other biding jerk

& hope to be cherished to the one you're sold

A mantlepiece life is all there is doll

Of porcelain perfection you've been made

What you see below is a greater fall

Live with the living in a far noble charade.
