Driving through downtown New York, Steve gazes out the window, "hey I know this neighborhood. I got beat up in that alleyway. And that parking lot," he points to the places, "and behind that diner."
"Did you have a problem with running away?" Rosalie asks the man beside her, glancing over to him. Peggy sits in the front with a soldier beside her driving.
"You start running, they'll never let you stop. You stand up, you push back. Can't say no forever right?" Steve explains to Rosalie, looking over to her.
"I know a little of what that's like," Rosalie admits," to have every door shut in your face."
"Yeah, I guess I just don't know why you would want to join the army. You're a beautiful dame. Beautiful...oh a woman, I mean... an specialist not a dame. You are beautiful," Steve says, stuttering through his words, trying to apologize.
Rosalie gives a small laugh, gazing over to Steve, "you have no idea how to talk to a woman do you?"
Steve chuckles too, "I think this is the longest conversation I've had with a woman. They're not exactly lining up to dance with a guy that might step on them."
"You must have danced," Rosalie states, looking forward.
"Well, asking a woman always seems so terrifying. And the past few years just... didn't seem to matter that much," Steve admits, looking down at his hands. "Figured I'd wait."
"For what?" Peggy asks, glancing over her shoulder to her friend and Steve.
"The right partner," Steve looks up to Rosalie when saying this, making the woman smile softly. Peggy gives her friend a meaningful stare, making the woman smile at her. Steve speaks up, catching Rosalie's attention, "I'm sorry for last night, for the question about your eyes. And the question about you being adopted."
Rosalie looks at Steve giving him a faint smile, "thank you for the apology. And I'm sorry for storming out of the bunks last night. It was childish of me."
"That's alright, Dr Erskine told me that what I asked was a sensitive topic for you. And that if you do ever choose to tell me that I'm lucky to have you trust me in such a short time."
"Maybe after the procedure, we can have that talk," Rosalie admits as the car pulls up to the sidewalk.
Stepping out of the car, Steve begins going one way, but Peggy calls out to him, "this way Steve."
Steve quickly follows the two women into a bookstore, looking around curiously, "what are we doing here?"
"Just follow us and don't worry," Rosalie instructs him. They walk over to the counter of the store, waiting for the owner.
An old lady walks out from behind a shelf, smiling kindly, "wonderful weather, isn't it?"
"Yes but I always carry an umbrella," Rosalie says, folding her hands in front of her. The old lady nods, pressing a button behind the counter, opening the hidden door. Steve looks at it with amazement, following beside Rosalie and Peggy. The three walk past numerous doors, heading straight for the large double doors, as two soldiers open it for them. They all step out and stop on the balcony overseeing the lab and large metal chamber. Steve looks around nervously as everyone in the room pauses what they're doing to look up at the three newcomers. Erskine gestures to them to come down and meets them at the bottom of the stairs.
