"Here." Hinata placed the tray in front of Komaeda.
"What is... McDonald's?" Komaeda asked, reading the brand's name on the wrapper.
"That's what this place is called. It's probably someone's last name," Hinata told him. "Try it, okay? It tastes good,"
Komaeda grabbed one of the burgers and unwrapped it. He nervously looked at Hinata, who gave him a reassuring nod.
The Angel took a bite out of it. "Oh my gosh!" He said, stars in his eyes. His wings flapped.
"Hey, stop that!" The man who was sitting behind him hissed, annoyed.
"I apologize!" Komaeda tensed his wings up. Hinata chuckled.
"Is it good?"
"It's better than good. It's amazing!" Komaeda said.
"I'm glad. You shouldn't eat too much of that though, it's not very healthy,"
Komaeda pouted. "I bet it's gonna be fine. I am not like humans, after all,"
"Can you get sick?"
"Yes, I can,"
After they got burgers, Hinata went to print out the pictures he had taken.
"Are you going to show them to your teacher?"
"Yeah,"
"How embarrassing!" Komaeda covered his face. People were staring at him already, he didn't want Hinata's teacher asking questions too.
"It's fine, she doesn't know you,"
"That is right. But..."
"But?"
"Never mind..."
"You can tell me what you were gonna say,"
"I just thought now that I can walk around freely, I won't know where to go while you are at school. I do not know my way around this town, but I want to explore it,"
Hinata picked up the pictures. "You can come with me. Yukizome's chill, she'll be fine with it. And if a teacher doesn't allow it, you can just walk around the school yard during that lesson,"
"Really?"
"Yeah,"
"Ah, but..."
"Come on, you should finish your sentences once in a while." Hinata began walking towards the register.
"I just... do not want to get stared at." As he walked, he pushed over a little girl with his wing. "I am so sorry!" He said, crouching down to her. He quickly made a teddy bear appear in his hands and handed it to her. She smiled and grabbed it, running to her mom.
When you have wings, every place feels crowded. He took up way more space than the average human and he felt like it was bothering everyone.
They left the store and Komaeda felt relieved. He had much more space here outside.
"Komaeda, what do other Angels do?"
"Uhm, lots of them grant wishes like me. Some are there to protect humans, some protect places, some take care of the weather. We do all kinds of stuff,"
"Do I have a guardian Angel?" Hinata asked.
Komaeda giggled. "No. Only people who have really bad luck or are terribly ill get one eventually. At least most of the time. It takes a lot of training to become a guardian Angel, so we don't have many. I am happy my only responsibility is granting wishes,"
"So does one of my classmates have a guardian Angel?"
"They are discussing whether or not Tsumiki-san will get one at the moment,"
"Finally. She needs one badly,"
"Is she very clumsy?"
"Yeah, it's crazy. She falls down like every two seconds and lands in the worst positions ever,"
Komaeda suddenly tensed up. He gripped the cup he got at McDonald's tightly.
"Is something wrong?" Hinata asked. He noticed a hand reaching up to touch Komaeda's halo from behind. There was another hand touching his wings.
"Aah!!" Komaeda yelped as his halo was touched. He hurried to hide behind Hinata.
"Huh? Is that not a costume?" The guy who had been touching his wings asked, confused. "How did you feel it?"
"It's not a costume," Hinata said.
"Huh???"
Komaeda waited for Hinata to say they could go. He didn't want to be there anymore.
"How is that not a costume?? I know that's not a real Angel!"
"Komaeda, let's go." He grabbed his hand and they walked away. The pale Angel nervously sipped from the straw of his drink.
"Are you okay?" Hinata asked.
"I am alright. He did not hurt me. But like I said, Angels are sensitive on earth, so that felt very strange and not good..."
"Okay, good. How about we go to my home?"
"Roger," Komaeda said.
Hinata chuckled.
