24 | Challenges

Komaeda put his head on Hinata's chest. "We won't stop dating... right?"

"Of course not." Hinata held him close and kissed his forehead. "I don't care if you have a husband. You're in love with me. Not him. Only me."

"You really don't need to be jealous, I don't want this. Trust me,"

"It's... gonna be fine. Takeshi seems nice, I don't think it will matter if you're married. You can just keep living your normal life,"

"I hope so..." he closed his eyes and fell asleep soon.

"I'm not dressing up!" Komaeda said. "I don't want this anyway!"

"Once you become the prince of hell, you will need to follow my rules. Here, you're going to have to wear this." He held up a choker.

"I won't!"

Devil put it around his neck. Komaeda tried to take it off, but couldn't. It wouldn't budge at all, despite only being made of fabric.

"And these!" He held up cuffs that he proceeded to put around his wrists and ankles.

"Stop it!" Komaeda yelled. "I don't want to wear any of this!"

"I do not care. Your father murdered one of my demons." He said coldly and then pushed Komaeda out of the castle to go to the place the wedding would be.

There were so many demons watching, smirking and laughing. Demons hated Angels. They felt like Angels always acted as though they were better than them, so seeing an Angel, the child of God himself no less, wearing cuffs and a collar felt amazing for them. They felt so powerful.

The heat was starting to get to Komaeda. He thought he was going to pass out before he could even say 'I do'.

The Angel was brought onto a platform where Takeshi was waiting, looking around nervously. Komaeda didn't know how weddings worked in hell, so he had no idea what to expect.

His father and Hinata stood in the crowd too.

"Komaeda, child of God." The demon that stood in between the two men said. "To show that he truly deserves you, Takeshi will now have to survive several challenges."

Komaeda looked at him, worried. "Survive?" He asked.

Takeshi gave him a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, those challenges are child's play."

Takeshi walked over a rope that hung several feet above a volcano. Komaeda folded his hands together, muttering something that no one understood.

"The heck are you doing?" A demon asked.

"Don't interrupt me!" Komaeda said and started from the beginning. Once he was done, Takeshi began moving more confidently and made it to the other side. His friends cheered.

"Fuck yeah! God job, bro!"

For the next challenge, Takeshi had to do a life-threatening parcour. There were blades an explosives all over it. Komaeda folded his hands again and began to chant. Takeshi ran over it with ease, even grinning from time to time.

The third and final challenge involved Komaeda. A big demon grabbed him and climbed onto the castle. She tied him to the highest tower and then jumped back down.

Takeshi nervously began climbing up the castle. His hands were sweaty.

"Uh, what happens if he can't get Komaeda from up there?" Hinata asked.

"Then the wedding gets called off, Komaeda gets left there and hell and heaven go to war with each other," a demon told him.

Takeshi tried not to look down. He was scared of heights. Hinata had seen Komaeda making the wishes before and he knew he couldn't do it now due to his hands being tied up.

He tapped God's shoulder. "Do you think you can make sure no one notices me entering the castle?"

"Yes, go ahead."

Hinata snuck into the castle and went to the highest tower. He was out of breath from all the stairs and the heat. He caught his breath and carefully opened the window of the tower.

"H-Hinata-kun?" Komaeda asked. Hinata climbed out the window. "Stop it, that's dangerous!"

With one hand, Hinata held onto the window and with the other he began untying Komaeda's hands. "You're going to fall, stop it!" Komaeda warned him. "P-please, just stop!"

"I'm almost done, babe. It's okay. You're going to be fine." He kissed his forehead. "I love you."

Sparkling tears began to form in Komaeda's eyes. "I-I love you too... n-now get to safety while I wish for Takeshi-kun to win this challenge... okay?"

Hinata smiled gently. "Roger."
