What a nice hospital room. Who wouldn't want to live here?

The hospital room was clean and frigid, equipment buzzing and beeping in a repetitive chorus, monitoring the frail thread of life that tethered Sophie to the world, a sharp contrast to The Greenhouse's colorful turmoil. When they entered the room, Sophie was in the emergency room having life-saving surgery.

Shaken by all these events, the group quickly dispersed. Brooke sat on a chair, crying, as Jackie hugged her. (The first picture above) She closed her eyes as tears slid down the face of the girl who was strong, rebellious and didn't care much about anyone or anything except the people or things that mattered. Hayley sat on the couch, her hands on her face, her eyes lost, thinking about something else with water in them. (The second picture above) Parker paced up and down while Daniel told him not to worry, that Sophie was going to be all right. Max stood looking at the window while Alex put his hand reassuringly on his back. (The third picture above) Leo stood still, thinking. Then letting his frustration get the better of him, screamed and punched the beanbag violently, thinking none of this would have happened if he hadn't attacked.

Everybody looked at him when the doctors wheeled Sophie back into the room and placed her in the center. Everybody circled around her, but she continued sleeping so they tore away. Sophie lay calm, her face placid, in contrast to the violent events that had brought her to this point, but the shadows of the forest seemed to dance behind her closed eyes.

Inside the room, her companions paced, their looks a mix of anxiety and optimism, of concern and love. As time passed, the room became alive with whispered prayers, reassurances, and shared glances. Each heartbeat, each breath an echo of optimism amid uncertainty. As the idea of a world without Sophie was an abstract concept too painful to fathom.

Hayley's fingers were intertwined in Leo's as they whispered silent prayers. Jackie stood by Max while Daniel consoled Parker, his best friend who was anxious about the love of his life. Brooke gripped Alex's hand, her grip a lifeline as much as a source of strength. Her best friend was Sophie. They discussed everything and never held secrets from one other. Sophie was also Alex's first buddy in the unknown Greenhouse Academy. She included him in events and made certain he did not feel lonely.
