Could you introduce yourself to the class?, Mr. Ntim requested. Nsiah, confidently walked to the front of the classroom, took a deep breath although confused and a bit nervous about everything, she calmly said.
" Good morning everyone, My name is Maame Afia Nsia Kakraba. I am new in the school and my hobby is to draw and read. She could hear the new classmates murmur to themselves. Shortly after that a resounding applause erupted from the whole class as Mr. Ntim ordered her to sit on an empty chair beside Joel.
It was an incredible moment that made her feel welcome and appreciated.

The bell rang for break time,  its triumphant sound echoing through the corridors, signaling a moment of freedom and excitement. Students hurriedly left the classroom in pairs laughter filled the air as they are ready to enjoy a well- deserved break.
As Nsiah walked through the hall of the school, a sense of longing and connection filled her heart. The anticipation built as she approached the classroom of her brother, knowing he was just a few steps away. She got there and hugged him as she asked how he was doing and they talked about how they are both happy at where they found themselves. Despite living in different homes, they could see each other at school.
After the break, she returned to the classroom and realised that her desk mate didn't seems to have warm feelings towards her.
Hey, have you watched High School Musical? Nsiah asked with a smile.
She was trying to start a conversation with Joel.
He looked at her being all sassy and avoiding the question he hissed.

The day went by in the blink of an eye and just like, school was over. Nsiah was staying in a different town from school but there was always a driver should drop her and her cousins off. Going home was a heartwarming for her because her aunt's house was a lively and welcoming place, filled with other children older than her and were related to her aunt's husband. Her aunt's husband was in the United States, a world away. Her brother had the convenience of staying in the same town as their school and could simply walk there. Nsiah and her brother Papa Nyan had the ability to find joy know their current lives despite the absence of their mother and grandmother. They found comfort and happiness in their current situations.

Nsiah's POV
Disssspensational Victory Academy I was still trying to learn how to pronounce and spell the name of my new school.
It was a bright Monday morning after the morning devotion, we went back to our classroom to start the lesson of the day. One thing about this school is that the students here are prettier and handsome than those in my former school.
Ever since I got to this school, it was as if a dark cloud hung over every interaction with Joel. It was like an open book that Joel didn't like me . His scowls spoke volumes, leaving no room for doubt. Maybe I should try to talk to him to see if there's a reason behind his behaviour?
I glanced down at my wrist watch, I couldn't help but notice that it was nearly five minutes until break time.
"Hey Joel, I've noticed that you seem to have a negative reaction towards me . Is there something I've done to upset you?"
As Mr. Ntim left the class to allow us to enjoy our break, he crashed down his foot upon my legs with a force that shook me to the core. Then began to laugh at me . The sound of his laughter echoed through the air, a cruel symphony of mockery. I displayed immense courage refused to succumb to defeat. In the face of his aggressive actions, I retaliated and crashed his foot as well mirroring his behaviour. The eyes of our classmates were fixed upon this intense showdown and started shouting for us to fight.
The humiliation he felt led him to inflict even more pain by pulling out my braids.

I fought back delivering a powerful punch to his chest. But in return, he struck me in the lips, leaving them sore and tender.  The whole class was buzzing with the news of the altercation. Some of our classmates quickly reported the incident to the headteacher and just like that, we were both whisked away to his office. The tension was palpable as we awaited for our fate. As tears streamed down my face, I could see the guilt reflected in Joel's eyes. The headteacher advised both of us to try and find a way to tolerate each other.
