In the quiet park, amidst a sea of mourners and sad music played at the background, a young girl stood, her tear-stained face reflecting the weight of her loss. Nsiah, her grandma called out to her, the young girl turned, her tear-filled eyes meeting her grandmother's warm embrace. Her grandma's embrace offered solace, a reminder of the love they shared with her mother, lost to diabetes. Growing up she never got to spend time with her mother because she was always busy with travelling to other African countries to clothes to sell in her boutique at the market circle in Takoradi. Nsiah's mother was just a teenager when she found out she was pregnant with her. Her grandparents were a middle- class family. Her grandfather worked in the ministries and her  grandmother was a midwife. They were respected in the Takoradi a city in the Western Region of Ghana.

They had other children and the family dynamics were quite intriguing as they gave birth to only females. Among their other children, it was undeniable that her mother being the youngest, held a special place in her grandmother's heart. The love between them was palpable.
One by one, like birds leaving the nest , each of the other children bid farewell to the family house as they embarked on the journey of marriage. It was a poignant scene as only her mother, her brother and she remained. The reason behind this was her parents couldn't  marry , leading to the separation of her mother and father.
Nsiah had a special bond with her grandmother and admired her even more than her own mother while growing up.

At a point in time, after the death of her mother, the love between her grandparents had faded away and they found themselves constantly arguing and exchanging harsh words. The once vibrant love turned into a storm of bitter emotions. Her grandfather had to move and settle in another part of the country's capital in Accra. Her grandmother finally retired from work and her auntie who had spent most her life in the United Kingdom with her husband, got her a visa to visit her. Before her left Ghana, the family met to discuss how Nsiah and her brother would be taken care of. The conclusion was separation which was absolutely heart wrenching! It was a devastating twist of fate that tore her and her brother apart, each sent to different aunties.
