A few days before the camping, Nsiah goes to the school canteen during lunch with Maame Efua and Dyla to buy snacks. The chatter of excited students filled the air and the smell of freshly baked meat pie forced them to buy some.

Maame Efua: (laughing) I am buying one of the pies

Dyla:( grinning) They look so tasty

Nsiah:( sarcastically) I am definitely not buying one.
( They laughed at their jokes and bought the pies with a drink)"

***They made their way to sit on a bench. Nsiah's eyes scanning over the various groups of students enjoying their snacks. That's when she spotted James seated on a bench with Joel and Samuel.
( He was laughing with his buddies but what caught her attention was the way his gaze kept drifting toward her.
Mavis went over to join them, James appeared a bit annoyed at her presence.

Nsiah:( thinking )Right, James was dating Mavis, right ?
( She didn't realise what she was thinking came out of her my)

Maame Efua. Yeah! I heard

Dyla: Mavis is so annoying.
( Maame Efua and Dyla excused her to use the toilet.)
***As she finished eating the last bite of her pie, she stood up walks over to where Jo is sitting with James
and a few other friends. As she approaches.

James: ( cheerfully) Nsiah! Come join us!
( Nsiah feels a rush of warmth at his invitation but also a hint of hesitation as she looks at Joel).

Nsiah:( smiling nervously) Hi guys! Mind if I sit?
( As she settles down beside James , she can feel Joel's gaze on her)

Joel:( looking at her) Hey, Nsiah, how's it going ?

Nsiah:( trying to sound casual) Pretty good.

( James leans back , clearly enjoying the fact that they were talking)

Joel: ( tentatively) So, Nsiah I wanted to say ... about last year, I'm sorry.
( Nsiah looks surprised but appreciative)

Nsiah :( smiling) No worries, Joel . It's all in the past.
***Nsiah laughs relieved. The tension between them begins to dissipate as they share a look of understanding ***

(she glances over at James, who seems happy to see them getting along)

** The bell rang for break over. They returned to the classroom to continue with their lessons.

***Kweku's POV ***
During break I spotted James leaning closer , sitting by Nsiah, clearly enjoying her company. My stomach twisted with a familiar pang of jealousy as I watched him flash that charming smile.

Why does he have to be so close to her?

( I turned away trying to shake off the feeling. I knew I shouldn't care but it was hard not to . The thought of her getting closer to James made me uneasy.)
*** I glanced over at John , who was sitting nearby engrossed in his phone. He looked up as I approached, sensing my mood**$

John: ( grinning) Hey, man! You okay? You look like you just swallowed a lemon...

Kweku:( forcing a smile) Just... you know, school stuff.
( John raised an eyebrow, clearly not convinced)

John:( leaning back) Come on, I can tell something is bothering you. Is it about Nsiah?

( I hesitated, biting my lip. I didn't want to admit it, but there was no point in hiding my feelings from my best friend).

Kwesi:( reluctantly) Yeah. It's just...I don't know. I see her with James and it gets to me.
( John nodded, his expression shifting to one of understanding)
John :(thoughtfully) I get it. But just because she's hanging out with James doesn't mean they are dating or something.
( I appreciated John's attempt to cheer me up but it didn't help the knots in my stomach).
