A Strong Little Dragon and Best Friends Vs Ewing Sarcoma

Chapter 2

Hot shot was asleep in the hospital. Hot shot has just found he has cancer. The type of cancer he has is called Ewing Sarcoma. It is a cancer of the bones and soft tissue and it is in his arm. Hot shot is kind of scared but ready to get better. 

He was sleeping soundly when suddenly the pain in his arm woke him up. "Owie!" Hot shot said waking up. 

Quickshadow came over to him.  "You okay Hot shot?" Quickshadow asked. 

"My arm it really hurts," Hot shot said. 

"My poor little poppet," Quickshadow said.

Quickshadow went to get a nurse. Nurse came in with Quickshadow. "It hurts," Hot shot said.

"I bet it does," the nurse said. "Now I think you need a little pain medicine," she said. "I will go get it and come right back," she said. The nurse left and came right back. "Okay now open up," she said.

Hot shot opened up his mouth and took the medicine. "Yuck," Hot shot said.

"Yes it tastes bad, but it will help," the nurse said.

"Okay," Hot shot said.

"Good boy," the nurse said.

Hot shot managed to smile. He squeezed Roxy and went back to sleep. Hot shot was also woken up a couple of times during the night by a nurse. To see if he needed more painkillers or check his vitals or to take a bit of blood one time. Hot shot was not happy about that.

Hot shot was hoping to get some uninterrupted sleep. The next morning Hot shot was awake. The nurses were checking his vitals and taking a bit of blood. They did things like listen to his heart, and lungs. They took his temperature too. Hot shot was also checked on to make sure he was doing okay and if he needed anything. Hot shot was soon able to have some breakfast.

Then Dr. Coaler came into the room. "Hello Hot shot," Dr. Coaler said. "How are you feeling?" he asked.

"I feel okay," Hot shot said. "My arm and wrist still hurt," he said.

"Sorry to hear your arm still hurts," Dr. Coaler said.

"Well I just came in with the painkillers because I checked the time and it is time for more," a nurse said coming in. She filled a spoon with the medicine. "Okay Hot shot open up," she said.

Hot shot opened his mouth. Then the spoon with the medicine was put in his mouth. He swallowed the medicine. "Yuck," Hot shot said.

"Good job poppet," Quickshadow said. "I am proud of you," she said.

"Thanks mummy," Hot shot said.

"Now then we have some tests to do today to help decide when treatment will start," Dr. Coaler said.

"Okay," Quickshadow said.

"More tests?" Hot shot asked.

"Yes and we will start treatment very soon after that," Dr. Coaler said.

Hot shot was taken to other parts of the hospital. There were scans to check on the sarcoma and it's size. There were tests with blood to check his over all health. Then Hot shot also had urine test to check his over all health too. Hot shot also had many other things checked too. Hot shot was ready for it all to be over with.

Then Hot shot was able to go back to his room. Hot shot was wondering about many things. "Mummy I am wondering a few things," Hot shot said.

"Like what?" Quickshadow asked.

"Why did I get cancer in the first place?" Hot shot asked.

"That is a good question Hot shot, but there isn't a good answer, doctors don't know why some kids get cancer, it just happens, nothing you are anyone else did caused the cancer," Quickshadow said.
