Short update here. I accidentally ended up writing things out of order, so this is the chapter 4 that was actually meant to be chapter 4. The old chapter 4, now 5, will now also be a lot longer, and will also have some changes done to it to ensure that I don't end up with a bunch of plot holes in the story. But don't worry, the ending of the new chapter 5 will be the same, so you'll still experience the gratification that comes with that chapter ending. Now on to the new chapter 4
Mystic Falls High school: Bonnie PoV
As me and Elena walk towards the school entrance, I can't help but remember what I felt when I accidentally touched Stefan Salvatore at the back to school party. Clearing my throat awkwardly, I eye Elena next to me. "I'm glad you're not interested in Stefan" My statement is short, but it leaves both of us in contemplative silence. "We've already established that him following me around is weird, so I don't think it's all that surprising. Why bring it up now?" The question is valid, but how do I even remotely go about explaining what happened that night? With trepidation in my voice, I try to explain it as well as I possibly can.
"Remember how I said I felt that gentle heat when Alexandra touched my cheek on the first day of school?" Elena gives me a hum in confirmation, while still looking confused and a little sceptical. "I felt something similar when I accidentally brushed my hand against Stefan's hand on the night of the party. But compared to the pleasant heat Alexandra gave me, the feeling Stefan gave me was what I'd imagine death to feel like" Elena looked deeply in thought as we walked in silence.
We were both brought out of our thoughts when said boy walked up to us, and I could immediately feel the hairs on my neck go stiff. "Good morning, Elena. Good morning, Bonnie" Looking between Elena and Stefan, it was obvious that he came up to us to be near Elena. I gave her an uncomfortable look, to which she gave me a small smile and an almost imperceptible nod. "Hey, um, I gotta find Caroline. She's not answering her phone. So I'll see you guys later"
Elena PoV
"She doesn't like me very much" Despite feeling incredibly awkward, I try to bite back my feelings in order to at least be friendly with him. "She doesn't know you. She's my best friend. She's just looking out for me. But when she does, she will love you" He gave me a small smile in response, but it was still clear that he didn't entirely believe me. "Here's what we're going to do. Are you free tonight?" He didn't even bat an eye as he answered me.
"Yes" Giving a firm nod at him in reply "Perfect. In order to celebrate our new friendship, dinner, my house. 8:00. You, me, and Bonnie. You two will spend some quality time and she'll get to see what a great guy you are. Mission accomplished" Just by looking at his face it was obvious that he felt dejected by my bold declaration of essentially putting him in the friendzone. While being around him was still a little awkward, I did still think we could become friends.
Right as he's about to answer, I notice a football coming right towards Stefan at full speed. As he goes to turn around, the ball is caught by the last person I expected to see right now. "You really should be more aware of your surroundings Salvatore, next time I might not be there to rescue you" Her British accent immediately made my stomach flutter, as I locked eyes with her sleek black aviators, and seeing her almost famous smirk looking at me not even bothering to look at Stefan. Before either one of us can reply to her, she turns around and throws the ball back towards Tyler, sending him falling backwards on the grass as he catches the ball.
I can't help but gape at her throw, seeing how perfectly she'd thrown the ball. "That throw was insane. I didn't know you played football" Her melodic laughter rang out around us, and it was visible how tense Stefan had gotten. "I'm British luv, I don't play football - The sarcasm she said the word football with, made my face flush with slight embarrassment but also a tingle of something else "Doing that would be an insult to all fans of actual football, you know, the sport where everyone actually uses their feet to play with the ball" The giggle that slipped out of me came as a surprise, but based on the brief smile she got on her face made it worth it.
"I suppose I should've known better" I gave her an exaggerated shrug with a slight smile, and her smirk immediately came back. "But tell me luv, what's this I hear about a dinner with you and the wonderful Bonnie?" The flush on my face clearly didn't go unnoticed by Stefan. "I believe that was a private conversation between me and Elena Nithe" When Alexandra looked at Stefan, she did so with a smirk that was bordering on feral. "Well considering I was able to overhear the conversation, it clearly wasn't very private. And I'm sure Elena wouldn't mind my wonderful company at this little gathering of hers" She looked towards me with a raised eyebrow, and finding myself short of words the only thing I could really do was give her a shrug and a smile.
"Perfect. Seeing that that's settled, I'll be sure to show up at 8 sharp" As she went to walk away, I couldn't help but blurt out what had been on my mind prior to the conversation about the dinner "Would you consider trying out for the team?" Her laugh once again sounded out loud and clear, and as she turned back to look at us again her face was filled with mirth. "Even if I considered turning my back on every other football fan in the world, I'm quite sure I wouldn't be welcomed on the team luv. Men do tend to pride themselves on their big games of strength, and they probably wouldn't like getting their arse handed to them by a woman. Even one with as strong a physique as mine" The last bit of her sentence involuntarily caused me to look down at her exposed and muscular midriff. Looking back up at her face, her smirk told me that she'd absolutely caught me peeking at her. And based on how rigid Stefan was, he'd definitely caught me looking as well.
"As pleasant as this has been luv, I'm sure we'll all be late for classes if we don't get going" With that she'd turned around and started walking off again, leaving me feeling short of breath.
