In the deep snows of Ursus, not too far north, there was a collection of facilities not owned by any government or any military.

Unless you count the Reunion as a military.

Which they really aren't.

Though Alina and the others were doing what they can to keep this organization alive, the failures in Lungmen and Victoria was costing them morale and costing them resources.

Kaschvey no longer was fully influencing Talulah and as such, the resources he had followed suit.

There was really nothing the Reunion had left that could meaningfully fight against Rhodes Island and the Coalition.

The facilities they did have weren't exactly up to make weapons, armor, or even some necessities, meaning that they were rationing what they had, and stealing what they didn't.

There was some Reunion Cells elsewhere, but following the events in Victoria, they lost the cells there and they even lost their lesser known Columbia cell.

Admittedly... W began to think, That wasn't going to last once that President got into power.

Well, they had Chernobog at least, but control there was unstable as the Imperial Army was looking to regain control of the catastrophe ridden city.

Which... wasn't exactly ideal, but whatever pleases the emperor of this Law-forsaken nation.

W sighed as she idly sat at a table, playing with a knife and some explosives. She was tired and bored out of her mind, and damn does she want to leave this sinking ship.

But due to some circumstances, she can't.

Patriot and FrostNova also considered leaving, but being in Ursus means that if they leave, they're surrounded by enemies with little allies.

And knowing the former, he wasn't going to put himself, his adoptive daughter, and his Guerillas and Yetis in the way of harm just because some differences began to arise and they were in the wrong territory to do it.

The group was basically held together by patchwork at this point, and they were only able to breath because Rhodes Island and Columbia has declared actual war on Theresis and they were pushing him all the way back to the heart of Kazdel.

Can't believe the Old Hag and her husband managed to mobilize against that Regal Asshole with the Columbians of all people...

W gets up and starts exploring the facility that the have set themself up in.

She starts passing Faust who was looking over a continously distraught Mephisto.

The 2 women were either stuck in thought, or just dead and unable to say or do anything at the moment.

The mercenary was going to screw with them, she really was, but Faust would put her ass down quick if she starts nagging them when they clearly are not well.

That's fine.

She hums and heads to see if she can grab any alcohol to lift the spirits up.

Alina and Talulah were still hard at work, while Nine was trying to coordinate everybody else in the organization to stay in line.

What's a little drink going to do?

She eyes the door that led to the little canteen area they had set up.

As the cockroach walked away, Mephisto raised her green eyes and followed the figure of the infamous mercenary.

She was stuck in a slump, unable to experiment since Alina and Talulah put a firm stop to her madness, and her forces were sitting idle, draining energy and life from her as she was unable to use them.

The Liberi appreciated that her good friend Faust was looking over her, as she wasn't sure how long she would have lasted otherwise.

But she knows that even her own patience was running thin and they needed to do something.

"Humm..." she looks at the door.

Perhaps a little nature walk would ease her mind and allow her to think clearly?

She began to get up, Faust looking at her with concern. "Don't worry," Mephisto responded, slowly making her way to the door and tapping her little pistol, "I'll be alright... just going to take a walk, alright?"

The elite crossbowoman nodded and watched as her good friend continued to the door.

She seemed to have stopped by something, nudged between the shelves that were by the exit. Curious, she reached for it and took it out.

She sighed, seeing that it was a story about some unknown war made by some forgettable Columbian author. It's silly... a war in the inky black?

Mephisto took one more look at Faust, before she opened the door and into the freezing cold.

Perhaps when she came back, her mind would be clear, and she can scheme again for Reunion.

As she headed away, the strange book she had picked up laid dormant on the shelves, before being knocked down by the winds which had burst into the warehouse.

She was unaware that there was quite a lot of truth behind that book.

Oh if she had known...
