part 4 —- cosmos and bad decisions
When YN arrives she spots Shoko first, where she is standing by the bar while appearing to be in deep conversation with the bartender. Behind her, she can see the others sitting down and she notices that Gojo isn't there.
"Ieiri-san," YN says when she reaches the doctor. She can smell the alcohol radiating from her and it brings back memories of last night. She holds back a shudder, as she only just recovered from her hangover and now she was about to do it all over again.
One thing that YN knows for certain is that Shoko is already drunk. Growing up with her the past decade has made it easy for her to recognise when she has had a few drinks (which happens frequently) and when she is completely sober (which is rarely).
Still, she finds that Shoko holds herself together a lot better than YN does when intoxicated. Maybe it's because she is used to it.
An hour into the night, and the group have ordered an array of different foods and a two pints of beer. YN orders herself an extra strong margarita, and she allows herself to dig into a piece of fried chicken so that her stomach isn't completely empty. Gojo is still not there, and even Mei Mei has shown up.
Mei Mei is just like Shoko and YN when it comes to drinking, though YN finds her a tad pushy in social situations.
"Keep up, YN," Mei Mei says as she presses YN's drink to her lip, encouraging her to down it all in one go. "There's a lot more on the way." she smirks.
Her sultry voice sends a shiver down YN's spine, and a tipsy Yaga lets out a loud chortle from across the table, finding something that Nanami, who is completely sober and slightly embarrassed, said to be so damn hilarious. YN can't imagine what, since Nanami is quite stoic and she has never heard him crack a single joke in all the years of knowing him.
"Here," Mei Mei places a shot in front of everyone. YN mentally prepares herself for the taste before following Mei Mei's lead, downing the small amount of liquid that makes her face contort at the bitterness.
Mei Mei's low voice suddenly appears by her ear, her warm breath fanning her jaw. "That man over there has been watching you this whole time," she says, her smirk evident in her voice.
YN doesn't bother to look, shoving a fry in her mouth. It tastes so much better when drunk.
"You know why they're staring." YN mutters, pointing to her burn scars on the side of her face, her eyelids already heavy.
Mei Mei tucks a strand of hair behind YN's ear and leans into her ear again. "That doesn't change the fact that you are hot. Trust me, they're looking because they want to fuck you."
