9》The phone call

Nitya pov

I was dancing in the rain, the perfect night sky in a saree like i always imagined, and suddenly, i noticed someone walking in my direction. He was coming closer and closer. I was about to see his face, but....

"Nitya"

"NITYA"

I got up with a jerk.
It was a dream.
Of course, it was a dream!

"Ji mumma," i said.
"Don't you have office today?" Mumma asked, glaring at me, and I realized it's monday again!

I took my phone to check the time, and it was 8 already.

"Shit! I am late. Why didn't you wake me up earlier?" I asked, stepping out of bed.

"I am sure Kumbkaran ka awtar h tu... i have been trying for the past 1 hour. Besides, i have other work, too..." Mumma scolded

"Mumma.." i said, whinning like a kid only to earn a smack!

"Go and get ready fast!" Mumma said sternly.

"Yes, boss." I said, mocking a salute.

I got ready and was running out of time, so i picked up my car keys and was about to leave.

"Nitya! Have your breakfast first!" Mumma yelled from the kitchen.

"I am running out of time! I'll eat in the office." I said, wearing my shoes and walking out of the house.

"I know your 'eat in office'! Come back right now, or you would see my worst side." Mumma threatened.

I got in, took a pratha roll it and took a bite, and was leaving again.

"Sit here and eat properly!" Mumma said, pointing towards the dining table.

"Mumma, if i stay a minute longer na then my boss will kick me out and then you will have all the time to make me eat properly!" I said mockingly and left from my house.

I reached the office just in time!
I heard them talking about the new deal with Singhania's.
I think Akki will be handling it since he is the new Ceo!
Well, it'll be fun working with him.

Aahan pov

I didn't have much appointment for today, but an emergency case came up, so i was busy with the surgery. The patient was in critical condition, but with the help of Dr. Batra and Dr. Gupta, we successfully saved the patient.

"It was great working with you, Dr. Kapoor and Dr. Gupta." Dr. Batra said.

"Same here, Dr. Batra." Me and Dr. Gupta said in unison.

"Okay, so i have another appointment scheduled in 30 minutes, so I'll take my leave now." Dr. Batra said.

"Sure, Dr. Batra, " I said, and he left. It was just me, Dr. Gupta and awkward silence since i have no idea how to communicate with people other than family!

"Um.. Aahan, if you are free, shall we have lunch together?" Dr. Gupta asked.

"Sure.... Sanvi." I said hesitantly.

We have been colleagues for 1 year now, and this was our first surgery together and so our first informal communication, so i was feeling really awkward.

We went to the canteen and placed our order.

"I hope you didn't mind me calling you by your name, Dr. Kapoor! Actually, i didn't realize at that moment." She said nervously.

"It's absolutely okay, Dr. Gupta, you don't have to be formal, and i hope you didn't mind me calling your name either!" I said, not really able to figure out what to say, but she smiled and nodded, and i sighed in relief.
