Sorry for the wait.
Just a quick reminder that I am no way affliated with law enforcement. I have no history or proper understandings of the way certain cases may be handled. This is a fictional story therefore there may be some terminology that isn't correct or minor plot holes. If so, please pretend you didn't notice them. 🤣
'Your role as a parent is multifaceted. It encompasses not only loving your children unconditionally but also imparting vital life lessons, such as manners, respect, and, above all, love. However, one aspect often overlooked is the need to prepare them for life, including the inevitable reality that they will one day have to navigate the big wide world without us. What no one truly prepares parents for is that, regardless of the circumstances, we find ourselves unable to imagine a life without them, our children, as they are an intrinsic part of our very being.'
🚨
The first step of a missing child case is an initial report. This automatically begins when a parent, guardian, or concerned party reports a child as missing to the local law enforcement agency. Quick reporting is crucial as time is of the essence in such cases. They were diligent to take all of Louis' details, including his name, his address, his age, every little detail about himself, the police now knew.
The first officer, a woman with a kind yet resolute demeanour, had started the interview with focused intent.
"Sir, I'm Detective Inspector Garcia, and aside from leading the investigation into your son's case, I'll also be serving as a liaison officer. It's my responsibility to ensure your well-being and keep you informed of any developments. Assisting me is Detective Sargent Reign. We understand this is a distressing situation, but we need to gather as much information as possible to assist in locating your son, so we’re going to be asking you a lot of questions but know that all information will help us do our job. To start with, can you please tell me your son's full name and his age?"
This was step two. A Preliminary Information Gathering: Officers will gather initial information, including the child's name, age, physical description, and any available photographs. They'll also collect details about where and when the child was last seen.
As he fights to maintain his composure, Louis drew a deep breath and steadied his voice. "His name is Saxon William Tomlinson, and he's almost two years old." Saying that out loud makes Louis realise that, shit, he had forgotten that Saxon's birthday is in less than two months.
The officer's demeanour conveyed empathy, aware of the immense strain Louis was under, and the gravity of the whole situation. While Louis had spoken, his bottom lip quivered, his emotions threatening to overwhelm him, but he continued on, determined to provide the necessary information to assist in the search for his son.
The dectective persisted with questions, delving into the details of Saxon's physical appearance. Louis felt his emotions intensify, making what would typically be a simple answer a formidable challenge. His stress and anxiety swirled, clouding his thoughts, but he knew he had to remain composed, for Saxon's sake.
"Can you describe his physical appearance, such as his height, hair and eye colour, and any distinctive features such as birthmarks that could help us in identifying him as well as what he was wearing when you last saw him?" Detective Sargent Reign inquired, his voice a gentle reminder that every detail could be vital in locating the child.
Louis forced himself to speak, his words shaky but determined. "Saxon is about this high." Louis gestured, indicating Saxon's height. "With short brown hair, a little curly on the top and green eyes, bright green eyes like his fathers. He's also quite small for his age and he has a very small birthmark on his right wrist, a light brown oval shape, and uhm, he was wearing a light blue t-shirt, a polo, with a picture of a dinosaur on it, red shorts, and little white sneakers with flashing lights on them."
