Slash walked heavy-footed out to the kitchen. He was allowed to be grumpy, it was his own mother. His cousin Nathan, who came with Aunt Nora, was also perfectly capable of helping, of course Nathan had always been a lazy bastard. "Saul! Sweetheart!" A short woman with unnaturally curled hair came over and threw her arms around him.
"Hi Aunt Lisa, I saw Nora but I hadn't realized you came too," Slash muttered, oof, too much perfume. Axl smells a lot better.
She smiled, "Yes dear its great to see you again. Last time I saw you you were so much smaller and your hair was so much shorter!"
"Saul could you fetch us the good china from the cabinet? We're not tall enough," his aunt Nora asked, gesturing towards the cabinet with her head, her hands busy adding touch-ups to the food.
"Sure," he replied blatantly. Then his aunts and his mother continued on with their chatter.
Lisa opened up the oven to check on the casserole, "Oh, Nora, have you seen that redhaired boy? Is he Nathan's friend?" Slash paused. They're talking about Axl..!
Nora shook her head, "No, Nathan only brought his girlfriend Susan, But I thought I saw him with Saul. Saulie!" She repeated.
Slash turned around, pretending he wasn't paying attention, "Hm?"
Nora took some silverware from a drawer, "Saul, dear, didn't that little redhead boy come with you?"
Slash nodded, "Yeah, that's Axl, why?"
They shrugged, "Well he just seems like such a sweet boy," Lisa said, taking a spoon for the pasta.
Nora added, "Yes, its nice to finally see one of your friends, you never bring any for us to meet. Not since Audrey Fisher," she remarked.
Slash scoffed, grabbing more plates, "Aunt Nora, Audrey Fisher was my girlfriend in the sixth grade, and you only met her because she skinned her knee on her skateboard and we had band-aids. And that was when you guys still lived in L.A."
Nora nodded, "Yes, well, she's the only one I've ever met. It's good though that you at least brought this one here."
Lisa nodded with agreement, "Yes, and he is a perfectly lovely boy. I'm very pleased for you Saul, dear."
Slash handed them plates, "Er, thanks." Slash thought, that was kind of an odd thing for them to say. Oh well, he wasn't going to worry about it.
Ola put on her oven mitts and lifted the dish from the oven to cool, "Saul can you get the wine from the fridge?" Slash nodded and did so. "Okay sweetie now can you set the table?"
Slash looked at all the stuff, knowing he didn't have enough hands. "Axl!" He hollered.
"What!?"
"Could you come help me for a second!?"
There was a pause as if he really hesitated, "Sure!"
Axl trudged to the kitchen, "Alright, what is it?"
Slash picked up two dishes full of food, "I need help setting the table."
Axl nodded, "Uh, sure honey."
Axl picked up a stack of plates carefully. "Oh!" Aunt Lisa stopped him, "Here, could you take the silverware too?" Axl nodded and she put the silverware at the top of the plates. She smiled, "Thank you sweetie," she patted his shoulder approvingly. Axl smiled politely in return and brought the plates and cutlery to the dinner table.
Axl paused. "What is it?" Slash questioned curiously, placing his dishes onto the center of the table.
Axl looked down, "I don't know where the baby fork goes."
