One week later, Underworld

"Miara, I thought you have already forgotten about me," Gerlad greeted his wife with an open arms, which the female gladly accepted and snaked her arms loosely around his neck while smiling at him.
Gerlad was a fully black furred male hedgehog vampire with a scar on his left cheek and another big one across his chest from a horrible battle with a werewolf occuring centuries ago. Currently, he grew a big amount of fur on his shoulders and neck, which connected to his chest, so he looked a lot fluffier than ever before.

"Oh, sweetie, I could never forget about you," Miara replied to the little tease and they both chuckled while Gerlad leaned his forehead against his partner's.
"Let me guess, Shadow still hates me?" he raised a brow and moved his head back after a while, so he could see his lover properly.

"You know, how stubborn he is, honey," she sighed and cupped his cheek while gently rubbing it with her thumb.
"He won't ever change, will he," Gerlad also sighed while leaning to his partner's touch. For now, the two were standing in a living room of a house, that Gerlad owns here in the Underworld.

Miara shook her head while giving her partner a sympathetic smile.
"No, but I love him as he is. You should do the same, he would surely appreciate it," she suggested and sat down on the couch along with Gerlad, who then moved her on his lap, wanting to be close to her, since he missed her so much already.

"I do love him, but....," Gerlad was going to protest, but in the end just shook his head and gave up.
"Look at me, honey. How come you're able to tolerate me being so free-minded, while you're so strict to Shadow?" the female used a great example against him.

"Oh come on, now, you're not him. You're you," Gerlad frowned in response.
"Exactly, he is he, so learn to respect that, okay?" Miara smiled victoriously.
"Smartie~" he playfully scoffed and shook his head at how he got outsmarted so easily.
"I am serious, Gerlad," she replied in firm tone and he chuckled in response.
"I know, sorry about that, dear. Now, how about we have some good time together?" he smirked at her and she nodded in response, returning the same smirk to him.

"So, does this mean...that we now have the whole mansion for ourselves?" Sonic raised a brow at the vampire, who sighed and nodded.
"Yes, it is exactly as it sounds, Sonic. My mom is going to stay there for about a week. Call it their little 'honeymoon'," Shadow replied and rolled his eyes at the mention of the romance itself.

The two hedgehogs were currently sitting on a couch in the library, Shadow had a book in his lap, while Sonic wielded a mug of tea and sipped it every once in a while, since it was still freshly hot. The vampire shortly explained, where his mother disappeared, saying, that about once or twice a month she leaves to the Underworld to see her husband and spends some time with him there before returning to the world above.

"That's kinda cool, eh? So, what ya guys usually do in the free time?" Sonic asked curiously while setting the mug on the coffee table, his tail twitching in slight excitement for some adventure. Shadow didn't share the same enthusiasm, as all he wanted to do for now was just reading his favourite book while enjoying the peace and quiet. With Sonic around the latter was surely impossible though.

"Why don't you go take a walk around and find your favourite spot? The activities I do and enjoy might not suit your own likes," Shadow replied and flipped a page in the book, never tearing his gaze off of the letters written in it.
"Hmmm, sounds about right, be right back!" Sonic agreed with the suggestion and in a second he was gone, leaving a blue streak behind him, which finally made Shadow look up and witness that.
