No one had anything to do.
Tweak was waiting for her next load of materials, the weather meant Kwazii couldn't go outside, and the Octonauts were basically sitting around waiting for disaster to strike. Well, disaster was on holidays; there was nothing to do.
Dashi hopped out of the Octochute and into HQ.
"I'm sick of waiting around doing nothing. Let's make something."
"But what?" Tweak asked, head tilted. "There aren't any materials to make anything. Otherwise I'd be building that new Terra-gup."
Dashi's smile faded slowly. An awkward silence passed, save for the distant sound of Peso's xylophone.
The smile was back. Dashi grinned at Tweak.
"Please tell me we've got the same idea..."
"I'm fairly sure we do. Dashi, sound the Octoalert!"

"What's going on?" Captain Barnacles asked as the Octonauts congregated in the games pod.
"Well..." Tweak started. "Dashi and I wanted to start an Octonauts band. Tell me it's not a brilliant idea. After all, we haven't really been doing much these past few days."
The Captain nodded slowly.
"That's true. Dashi?"
"No storms coming. The weather satellite says the next week should be fairly peaceful in this part of the ocean."
"Sounds good then," the Captain smiled. "Do you have any suggestions? I'm not sure how many of us are musical, after all."
It turned out that quite a few of the Octonauts were musical.
"I've fiddled on the drums a bit," Tweak started, counting on her paws. "Peso plays his xylophone, the Captain plays his accordion..."
Various members of the crew shuddered at the concept, but the Captain didn't notice. While he did have a habit of annoying the crew for hours on end, once Captain Barnacles knew a tune, it didn't' sound all that bad.
"But how will xylophone fit into a band?" Peso wondered aloud. "Usually I play solo."
"I have an old midi board," Dashi suggested. Blank looks from the rest of the team. "A midi board is a musical instrument digital interface. Basically, a system for replicating musical instruments digitally. If you can play xylophone, it's not that hard to learn something like this."
Peso nodded, satisfied with the answer.
"I... I also used to play guitar," Dashi continued.
"You used to play guitar?" Shellington asked, amazed at his girlfriend's apparent infinite list of skills.
"Yup, I used to be in a band when I went to school. How about you Shel? Do you play any instruments?"
"Well, um, as a matter of fact, I do play piano. The reason we have one in the games pod, actually."
"Sounds great," Tweak said brightly. "So we have accordion, piano, synth, guitar and drums. How 'bout you Kwaz?"
"I can sing," the pirate cat said proudly. Several members of the crew looked doubtful, but Dashi and Tweak continued with their unrelenting optimism.
"Sounds good!" the dachshund smiled. "Let's go!"
