jake has his mouth shut: act i

road trip's end

hey! it's been a bit.
i didnt write in here since there wasnt anything new to write.
but, molly has given me multiple things as surprises.
we went to a musical, went to disneyland and a bunch of other stuff.
but today the trip ends. in new york city. and i am extremely excited.

"now, there's just one more surprise i have for you today, jake. but that will come later today." molly said to me.

"i'm so excited!" i said, happy as can be.

as we approached our hotel, i saw that the recall records building is just next to it. huh.

"hey, mols, is that where you work?" i asked her.

"hm? oh, no, that's the main building. i work in the one that's in miami. it's smaller, yes, but it does the job." she responded.

"oh, there's two of them?" "more, actually." we went back and forth.

the three of us went to our rooms, and i started sketching what'd become the album cover.

i'm not great at drawing, but i for sure do not have the money to pay an artist so this'll do.

i ended up w something that looked like a slug and a human at the same time, but it might just work. the floor i drew for it looks like a highschool gym building too.

"whatcha doin?" mei said, dragging the last part a little bit.

"just sketching the album cover. it doesn't look great but it might soon." i responded.

"it looks good, what are you talking about love?" she said, taking a few more looks to reassure me of that.

i chuckled, and said, "if you say so, darling."

as the drawing came together more, it was obvious that this wasn't going to turn out like i thought it would.

"this is useless, i'm not gonna actually use this." i said to myself, but before i threw it away, i wanted to get the band's opinion.

you: what do you guys think abt this? i just drew it and i think it'd be cool to use for an album cover, but it doesnt look great rn

huh. they like it. seems like thats our album cover.

got a text message from molly.
"meet me downstairs in five mins"

"mei! get ready, we're going downstairs in five!" i yelled.

"okay, be there in a sec!" she responded.

we both got downstairs.

"jake, i'm now going to blindfold you, you'll see why soon." molly said and proceeded to do so.

"o-kay.." i said, and got led into molly's car.

after what felt like a 3 minute drive, she said: "we're here."

i went inside this building that i had no idea what it yet was, but we made our way in.

and as she took off the blindfold, who do i see?

"hey jake, i'm edgar reeves. you might know me as-" "RECALL RECORDS' CEO, I KNOW! WHY AM I HERE?!" i cut him off, excitedly asking the latter question.

"well, we heard your demos. seems like you are a talented man, and so are your new bandmates. come out, you guys!" edgar said, revealing that my band was here the whole time.

"what the hell? this is- oh my god.." i felt like i was about to pass the fuck out.

"and because of your talent, and the band's talent, we want to sign you for a record deal. just 6 albums for the first contract, then you can choose to re-sign or go off to another record label. all you 4 have to do is sign right here." edgar said, and brought over 4 contracts.

after reading through the contract carefully, all of us signed it.

MY DREAM IS COMING TRUE! I SIGNED WITH FUCKING RECALL RECORDS!

"thank you so much, mr. reeves, this is.. a dream come true." i said, shakingly reaching out my hand for a handshake.

"you all have talent. you'll get far, truly." he said, shaking my hand as well.

and with that, came the last surprise of the road trip. i truly had fun, and now it was time to go back home.

"do you want to come sleep at mine, darling? it'll be easier." i said.

"oh, i'd love to. let me just ask my mom first." she responded.

and with that, our 5 hour drive ended. i was back home, with mei by my side, and hugging mike and lucy, the first to see me.

"how was your trip, you two?" mike asked, as he was serving dinner which consisted of fried chicken, fries and salad that lucy made all by hand.

"it was fantastic. i actually have news to share.." i said to them.

"oh, go ahead jakey!" lucy said.

"i got signed to recall records, and i need one of you to cosign on it.." i said back.

"will get to it. just give me the phone number and i'll get them to mail the contract." mike said.

"wow, thanks mike." i said to him and hugged him.

as we went up to my room, eating our snacks and watching movies, i felt the happiest i've felt in a while. everything was coming together perfectly.

and so, mei and i went to sleep.
