Ioclaw shifted uncomfortably. She was so bored! Was it really necessary to take this class?
Redwing looked bored, too. He let out a yawn, then continued. "Now, young Crystal Searchers, you can grab your pouches and we'll set out on our first mission."
Wonderfur blinked at him. "Were you a Crystal Searcher before Wire made you Second-In-Command?" she asked.
Redwing nodded. "I was for a few months, then Willow died and Wire was the next leader."
"Then Ebonypelt had to step down and you were the next Second-In-Command!" Moonsight purred.
Redwing hesitated. "Actually, she chose to step down, she didn't have to. Now grab your pouches so we can get going."
Ioclaw slowly padded after Wonderfur, Moonsight, and Leopaw. The four of them had recently chosen to be Crystal Searchers and were in their first training class. If she had known how boring it would be, Ioclaw would have chosen to be a Guild Guarder with Moonsight's sister, Whitepatches, and Birdwing.
Redwing helped Ioclaw slip the pouch over her head and led the way toward the entrance of their camp. Moonsight padded alongside her, a huge smile spread across her face.
"I'm so excited!" she chirped.
"Really?" Ioclaw meowed sarcastically. "Wow, I never would have guessed by the way you're basically dancing on your paws."
Moonsight rolled her eyes. "C'mon, you gotta admit you're a little excited, too."
Ioclaw turned away. "I'd much rather be asleep. I wish I'd waited two more months like Whitepatches and Birdwing."
Moonsight turned her head away from Ioclaw and Ioclaw winced. She forgot how Moonsight felt about her sister being a Guild Guarder.
"I'm sorry," she mewed quietly.
"It's fine," Moonsight laughed weakly. "I can't control Whitepatches's life anyway. If she wants to be a Guild Guarder, that's her choice."
Ioclaw dipped her head respectfully. It was clear Moonsight didn't want to talk about this right now.
"What crystals do you think we'll be assigned to look for?" she asked in hopes to change the subject.
"Who knows," Moonsight meowed. She smiled. "Did you hear what Wire was talking about?"
"No?" Was it bad? Was it something Ioclaw had to worry about?
"Well, we have a lot of Crystal Searchers and Guild Guarders in our camp, all the Guilds do," Moonsight meowed. "So many and most of them barely get to do their job because others have already handled it. So the Leaders and Second-In-Commands were thinking, what if we added new members to the Guilds?"
Ioclaw blinked. "That's not going to solve the problem, though. It'll just make it worse," she pointed out.
"No, no, I didn't explain it right," Moonsight told her. "They want to add a new part to the Guilds, a new section, an entirely new job."
"What is it?" Ioclaw asked.
"Potion Makers!" Moonsight purred.
Ioclaw tipped her head. "What are they going to do?"
Moonsight's whiskers twitched. "Name sounds pretty self explanatory. It probably won't happen anyway." Moonsight shrugged. "It's a cool idea, though."
"Agreed," Ioclaw meowed.
Wonderfur poked her head in between them. "Are you guys going to be Potion Makers if they become a thing?" she asked.
" 'Course not!" Moonsight exclaimed. "I always want to be a Crystal Searcher."
