Peril had been staring at the camp entrance all day, waiting for someone to come get her. Where are they? Wire said they'd come!

Moonsight padded over to her, dropping some feathers beside her. She began pushing some of them into the edge of Peril's bedding.

"How's Ioclaw?" Peril asked.

"Mad," Moonsight replied. "She's been staring at Opalwind with narrowed eyes all day. To be fair, though, I think all three of us are."

Peril instantly knew Moonsight was referring to herself, Ioclaw, and Wonderfur. She rested her head on her paws. I wish I had a friendship as nice as theirs.

Moonsight finished putting the feathers in and shook out her fur. She turned to the camp entrance. "Still no one?" she asked.

"No," Peril muttered sadly.

Moonsight rested a paw on Peril's shoulder. "I'm sorry," she mewed kindly. "Would you like something to eat? You haven't had anything all day."

"I'm good, thanks," Peril mumbled.

Moonsight blinked. "You should eat," she insisted.

"Fine," Peril mewed, giving in.

Moonsight smiled. "I'll have Ioclaw bring you something," she meowed.

Peril gave a small nod and shut her eyes. She felt her heart sink to the bottom of her chest. If you were Second-In-Command, Tawny would already have attacked our Guild searching for you and not waited until tomorrow to come and get you.

I wish she'd do that anyway, Peril thought helplessly. Except for the attacking part. Then Ioclaw would never trust me.

Despite the dreams she'd been having, she trusted Ioclaw. After all, they were just dreams. Ioclaw had been kind to her, there was no reason not to trust her.

A small thud sounded beside her. She jumped and opened her eyes. Ioclaw was beside her, drawing a paw over her ear. The side of her face looked like it hurt awfully. Beside her was a rabbit that looked like it had been recently caught.

"Thanks," she mewed, leaning over to grab it.

"Your welcome," Ioclaw meowed, getting up.

Peril hesitated for a moment, then spoke. "Can I just find my own way home?"

Ioclaw blinked. "You know the rules," she mewed. "You can't."

Peril sighed and rested her head on her paws once again, eyeing the rabbit.

"I'm sorry," Ioclaw murmured. "I hope Tawny comes to get you."

Ioclaw padded away. Peril watched her go, completely hopeless. These cats won't let me go and Tawny isn't coming. I'm stuck here.

She brought the rabbit a little closer, forcing herself to eat. I need to figure out a way to get home.

But does the Guild even want me home if no one is coming to get me?

She pushed away the remains of her rabbit, feeling ill. Her head was spinning with questions and doubt.

I just want to go home!

"Get back!"

Peril's eyes flew open. She hadn't even realized she'd fallen asleep. She'd had an awful dream about cats invading her camp, killing everyone there. It felt so real that if she hadn't woken up in Wire's camp, she wouldn't have believed it was a dream. Peril turned to look at the camp entrance, her heart soaring when she saw who was there.
