Peril watched the kits dart back and forth. Pounce lay in her own corner, eating a mouse. Peril had brought. Silk bounded over to her and Pounce covered the mouse protectively.
"Touch my food and I'll cause a war," Pounce threatened.
Silk backed away innocently. "I just wanted to see if you wanted to play tag," he mewed sadly.
"No," Pounce snapped, going back to the mouse.
Silk hung his head and padded away. Peril felt a stab of pity for the young tomcat. Tiger padded over to Pounce and gently began scolding her. Pounce turned away angrily and kept eating the mouse. Tiger rolled his eyes and let her be.
Peril noticed Cocoa and Snip taking turns hopping over one another. Curious, she got to her paws and padded over.
"What game are you playing?" she asked.
"Hop Frog," Snip replied, looking up at Peril. "Didn't you play it as a kit?"
"Fish and I spent most of our time gossiping," Peril admitted with a chuckle.
Cocoa tilted her head. "Are you in love?" she asked.
Peril snorted. "Stars no! I'd never take him on as a mate, he's my best friend," she told her.
Cocoa blinked. "Huh."
Peril watched them go back to their game and tried to figure out what the other kits were doing. Frog, Toad, and Ember were playing hide-and-seek, and from the looks of it, Frog was winning.
Leap and Dove were laying together, laughing and talking like full-grown mollys.
Peril smiled. She shook out her fur, looking for Kite. She was in the Kit-Watchers den in Kite's place until he got back.
He better hurry up! Rust and Ioclaw will be here for the meeting soon.
Three kits darted by Peril's paws, startling her. She looked down and saw Autumn, April, and Reaper crawling on top of a small rock.
"I'll be Ioclaw," April announced.
"I'll be Peril," Autumn meowed. "And Reaper can be Rust, since he's the only tomcat."
"I could've been a girl," Reaper huffed. "You're lucky I wanted to be Rust anyway."
"Who'll be the great chaos?" April asked.
Peril padded over to them. "I will," she offered.
The three kits shared excited glances. "Yes please!" Autumn chirped.
Peril got into a crouch and narrowed her eyes.
"So, you're the great prophecy cats?" she hissed.
The kits giggled and got ready to attack. "We are," Reaper mewed confidently. "We are here to defeat you, great chaos!"
April bounded to the front of the group. "Attack!"
The kits pounced on her, pinning her tail down and crawling over her back.
"Die, you beast!" April cried, batting at her ears with sheathed claws.
"Peril!"
Peril raised her head and looked at the entrance of the Kit-Watchers den. Kite stood there, his tail flicking.
"They're here," he mewed.
Peril allowed Autumn to get off her back and got to her paws.
"Aw," Reaper whined. "Does she have to go?"
"I do, little one," she mewed. "I have a prophecy to attend to."
"Bye, Peril," April called.
Peril padded out of the den and approached Tawny's cave. She pushed past the vines and into it, finding Rust and Ioclaw standing in front of her leader.
