Nathan
I woke up and grabbed my phone and saw the messages that I read last night from Zola.
I'm still pissed off about what she said.
I didn't want to make a snow angel with her but I did it anyway because she asked.
I would do anything for her and then she threw it back in my face by calling it ugly.
I know it's stupid to be mad about a fucking snow angel but she made me do the damn thing and is now insulting it.
I could have gotten up and left and she would have made one by herself but I didn't.
I stayed and did it with her. For her.
I got myself ready and made some breakfast for myself and didn't bother going over to her house to see what was on the agenda for the day.
I stayed in my room and did a ton of work.
A couple of hours went by and I heard the front door open and close and footsteps coming up the stairs.
"Go away," I said assuming it was Zola coming to ask me why I hadn't responded to her messages.
"I hope you are not too busy for your mother," My mom said opening the door.
"Sorry. I thought you were someone else".
"You know we put the house up for sale so I want to get a head start in clearing things out,".
"Sure. Where do you need me?" I said closing my laptop and getting up from my chair.
We went downstairs into the basement and there were a ton of boxes.
"So I want you to make three piles. Keep, Donate, and Trash".
"Okay".
I heard someone come into the basement and I thought it was my dad but it wasn't.
It was none other than her.
"I have enlisted help for you as well".
"No. I'm good on my own,".
"Oh come on dear. You can't sort all these boxes out by yourself so that's why I asked Zo to help. So no fighting just sort".
And then my mother left.
"So I take the left and you take the right?" She asked me but I didn't answer.
"Okay,".
I started going through boxes and saw my old baseball bat from my childhood.
I was deep in thought thinking back to the memory of the time I accidentally hit someone in the head with a baseball.
Funny times.
"Um hello. Are you just going to be silent throughout this whole thing?".
"I don't even deserve the silent treatment from you".
I just kept putting things in their respective piles.
"Can you stop ignoring me? Are you still mad about the snow angel? I did apologize".
She gasped and said," Aww. Look at the photo book I made of embarrassing pictures of you and put a different page everywhere in high school".
"You were such a devil in high school but then went back down in college and then in our junior year, you turned that shit up to the max".
I just kept putting things in their boxes.
"I am for sure keeping this," Zo said putting it in the keep pile and I picked it up and put it in the trash pile.
