The next morning, as Ember and her siblings were getting ready for school, there was a knock at the door. Katniss called to them. "Could one of you get that while I'm sorting your lunches out?" Willow nodded as she opened the door. The kids were confused as they saw two people who seemed to be from the Capitol. "Uh, Mom," Willow hesitated, unsure of what to do. Ember and her siblings gathered around; their curiosity piqued. The Capitol representatives stood there, their brightly colored outfits contrasting with the subdued tones of the district. It was unusual to see such visitors in their humble home.

"Effie!?" Katniss asked in slight surprise as she recognized one of the Capitol representatives. Effie Trinket, known for her eccentric fashion sense and bubbly personality, smiled warmly at Katniss. "Yes, it's me!" she exclaimed. "I've come to personally invite you and your family to attend a special event in the Capitol." The figure standing next to her was none other than Haymich Abernathy, the former victor of the Hunger Games and now a mentor to Katniss. Haymitch's disheveled appearance and perpetual scowl contrasted sharply with Effie's polished demeanor. Despite their differences, both representatives played significant roles in Katniss' journey as a tribute to the Games. "wait now? The kids have school," Katniss interjected, her brow furrowing with concern. "Is there any way we can reschedule the event to a time when the kids are on break? I don't want them to miss out on their education." Haymitch sighed, his scowl deepening. "I understand your concern, but this event is of utmost importance. Perhaps we can arrange for a tutor to accompany them during their absence?" he suggested, trying to find a compromise.

"Something has come up in the Capitol, and the people need the Mockingjay to make an appearance." Katniss hesitated at this. "Can we not talk about this in front of the kids?"

"Mom, what's the Mockingjay?" Ember asked curiously. Katniss paused, considering how to explain it to her young daughter. "The Mockingjay is a symbol, Ember. It represents hope and rebellion against injustice," she replied, trying to simplify the concept for her. "It's a character that I have become in the eyes of many people." Ember stood next to her mother, her red hair tied into a neat braid falling down her back. She looked up at Haymich and Effie standing nearby, hoping they would join in the conversation and provide more insight into the Mockingjay. Katniss chuckled softly. "On that note, we need to finish getting you ready for school."

Katniss invited Effie and Haymich in as she got the kids ready for their day. Ember eagerly followed her mother, excited to learn more about the Mockingjay and its significance. As they all gathered in the living room, Katniss began explaining the symbol's connection to rebellion and hope in Panem. "here Ember..." Katniss clipped something onto her daughter's bag strap. "Here's a small mockingjay pin," Katniss said, smiling at Ember. "It's a symbol of hope and defiance, just like the Mockingjay itself. Wear it proudly." Ember beamed with excitement, feeling a sense of empowerment as she fastened the pin to her bag strap. Effie kneeled next to Katniss with a smile and added, "It's wonderful to see the legacy of the Mockingjay being passed down to the next generation. May it inspire you to fight for what you believe in, just like your mother."

Ember nodded eagerly, grateful for the support and encouragement from both Katniss and Effie. "Okay, now big hug and grab your lunch; otherwise, you'll be late." Katniss chuckled and pulled Ember into a warm embrace, feeling a surge of pride for the young girl. "Remember, Ember, your voice is powerful. Use it wisely," she whispered. Ember nodded, her determination shining in her eyes as she grabbed her lunch and hurried off to school, ready to make her own mark on the world.

Haymich watched Ember follow Rye and Willow, chuckling slightly as the three stumbled out the door and onto the path that led to the school. He couldn't help but feel a sense of hope for the future, knowing that these young ones would carry on the fight for justice and change. As he took a sip from his flask, he muttered to himself, "May the odds be ever in their favour."
